✦ AI summary

Mystery Case Files: Escape from Ravenhearst features beautiful atmosphere and attempts to expand the series lore, but players consistently report severe technical issues including frequent freezing and crashes that significantly hamper the experience. Beyond the stability problems, players criticize excessive backtracking, confusing puzzle design with unclear progression, and controversial morphing object mechanics that feel tedious rather than engaging.

Much as I enjoy this game, the developers really need to fix it. It's fun to play, but it's tedious the way I have to keep resetting it when it freezes or just shows a red screen

It's a great game with some absolutely disgusting, stomach turning and horrible details and puzzles but... the game soft locks and freezes up so frequently in the 4th act, it's barely playable.

Friend bought this for me because I enjoy puzzle games, but this game isn't it. While some of the puzzles can be fun, they're not very engaging and some of them are incredibly difficult to understand with very little help to understand them. On top of all of that, this game is full of bugs. I've had to hard restart the game MULTIPLE times due to assets disappearing, (only showing bright red boxes where they should be), not working (not being able to advance through rooms or use items even though it just worked), and even the menu not opening and instead I've been having to force quit the game and restart it, only for it to only work for maybe 20 minutes or so before needing to restart it again.

Great puzzles and dark atmosphere, very resident evil esque but in point-and-click adventure style.

Escape from Ravenhearst is one of the last Mystery Case Files games Big Fish Studios worked on. And while I REALLY wanted to be a fan of this game, it's simply not worth it. Pros: The game has some beautiful atmosphere—some of the best of the original Big Fish series. While it's not perfect, the game tries to expand on the Ravenhearst story and tie up loose ends in the series. Cons: Traversing in this game is a slog; there are sections that require frequent backtracking across many areas, requiring you to click many times just to get to a location you've been to eight times already. The game has issues with crashing. I played this game on my Steam Deck through Proton and had many issues with the game freezing and crashing. The morphing objects. This game throws out the traditional hidden object scenes for morphing objects, and to be honest, it does not really work that well. Overall, if you are a fan of this series and want to finish off the Big Fish MCF era, play this game. Otherwise, steer clear of it—ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ON A WINDOWS PC, AS THE GAME REFUSES TO START ON WINDOWS 10/11.
