Unique visuals in a 3D environment mixed with 2D characters and Interesting storyline.

Controls are super weird, instructions direct you to press 'action' or 'cancel' without ever telling you what those are. Once you've configured them to something less weird (by exiting the game entirely as the only way to get back to the menu as far as I could tell), the battle scene tells you you can change mode but none of the modes are really explained nor self-explanatory. One thing about the battles seems to be a need to press key sequences DDR-style remarkably rapidly from the very beginning. It might have worked to just mash all the keys, I didn't try it. I was disinterested and confused enough at this point (random encounters, inexplicable controls, unfun quicktime events, all undesirable features) that I quit.

Andoran Skye XD is a graphically outstanding game for being made by one man. Sound wise it has great sound effects and music, being a pure text base game it makes up for the lack of voices with a great music selection i assume was made the creator himself. I noticed that very rarely that the sound effect from attacks will stop abruptly when another enemy is scripted/has its chance of attack. Graphically the game is top notch when you look at some other games that have a team of a dozen working on it and it comes out being slightly inferior to this game, at no point did i actually not stop to look at the background or other characters for each one was unique even though they didnt add much or anything to the story they looked the part and made up for lack of helpfulness in humor. As far as the Gameplay goes there are some hiccups and confusion in the game for example Chain Attacks are never explained through the course of the game even though when i did have a chance to try the mechanic out is proved to be very helpful on three of the bosses. Andoran Skye 1.5 is... hard to properly classify as a game. It's more like a bunch of loose ideas and asset flips got dumped in a blender to try make some kind of game without any clear idea from the developers where to start, finish, or what to do inbetween. The visuals are on par with the game design. The cleanest way to describe this is a kind of platformer/2D side scrolling point and click adventure with (very) lightweight JRPG style combat. The technical implementation here is bad, no doubt about it. No support for resolutions beyond HD, despite the 2016 release date, and even the HD support is dicey and subpar. That's enough to fail this, but let's go down the rabbit hole. The artwork and visuals are so badly mismatched I almost got an embolism playing this. The backgrounds look kind of okay, if low poly, fine. Then you get some janky hideous grade school drawings (I won't even dignify that scribble by calling it "art") for character portraits and other things.
