Bomb Chicken

This ain't it for me. Pros: -Beautiful and charming pixel art presentation -Innovative, satisfying gameplay -Great attention to detail in environmental design and interactions -Tight solid controls -Completely whimsical Bomb Chicken very quickly became a miserable experience after the initial wow factor. There is nothing satisfying about slogging through already completed sections of a game because you ran out of an arbitrary number of tries. Especially when certain sections of the game require trial and error. Combine that with the brutal level design, unfriendly reset times, and sometimes obnoxious enemy design, I was frustrated more times than I was enjoying the experience. I am no stranger to tough games; Celeste, Super Meat Boy, Garlic, etc. Love those guys. But there is a way to implement high difficulty correctly. I do not believe Bomb Chicken does so.

A pretty darn fun game, a blast if you will. Now that Nitrome is onto reviving their classics I figured it's about time I get onto trying their other games too. Bomb Chicken immediately hits you with that old school Nitrome charm. I adore the art. Even though the game is light on story I love that they still cared to make it all feel connected and fit thematically, the locations and enemy designs have a lot of personality. The gameplay is pretty enjoyable early on, you have a simple and fun gimmick to work with. Most of the game was a good time, though sadly the last few levels were only an exercise in frustration. I definitely hope they do away with resetting back to the start of a level if they do similar games in the future. There's nothing fun in repeating annoying sections you've already cleared before. And those blind drop bits really didn't help. I was definitely getting close to just watching the final parts on youtube. But yeah, even though it got frustrating at the end Bomb Chicken was still a good time, and I hope I get to see Nitrome try their hand at more originals like this alongside the returning classics.

Childhood memories, still the familiar brutal difficulty of Nitrome. Getting too old to actually complete the game, so giving it a good review for the sake of nostalgia. It may be quite torturous and suitable for players who dare to challenge themselves. In an era dominated by mindless clicker and idle games, a company that still strives to design levels meticulously is rare and commendable. Hopefully, they’ll introduce more collectible systems to give players more motivation to tackle the later, extremely challenging stages. 童年回忆，依旧是熟悉的Nitrome死亡难度。老年人了打不了通关了，给情怀一个好评。也许很折磨人，适合敢于挑战自己的玩家，但在爽游和挂机游戏横行的今天，一个依旧会去努力做好关卡设计的游戏公司显得难能可贵。希望多出一些收集系统，这样玩家会更有动力去挑战后续的高难关卡。
