Only recommended in co-op. Hammerwatch 2 expands on the original with a much larger and more open world, considerably more freedom. I played Hammerwatch and Heroes of Hammerwatch, loved both, this one is so much worse I couldn't even finish. Its not very clear what you have to do, you are lost, everything feels meaningless, more mechanics but most of them feel irrelevant, graphics are worse (in my opinion)... I just didn't see a reason to keep playing

slow, boring and unbalanced. Often not clear on quest details etc.

I mean, I loved it!

I regret taking so long to finally buy this. While the reviews are generally concerning the game itself is fantastic. It took me exactly 16 hours to beat my first playthrough and I haven't even explored everything so when it comes to playtime I'd say you get your money's worth. Especially if you're planning to get all the achievements. The graphics are fantastic, easily some of the best pixel graphics I have ever seen. The music and overall atmosphere fit the game incredibly well and the world is well-structured for the most part. My only issues with the game are that all-throughout it can be difficult to tell what is walkable ground and what is an object, even when staring at the mini map. The other is the final boss. I'm sure this is just a me-issue, still; I really enjoyed the game up until that final fight. It all feels so clunky, some stuff outright unavoidable and the healing during invincibility phases is just a kick straight to the forehead. The balancing overall feels off as that fight is significantly harder than anything else in the game.
