Gameplay is a bit confusing and kinda hard getting used to. When compared to classic games like Snow Bros. or Rainbow Islands where everything is contextual and easy to pick up but here it's like learning to ride a unicycle - you fall flat trying to get up again. Hit enemies with your hook then throw them into your backpack. Now you can fire from bazooka. Load balls into your 'zooka - that's the game. Some enemies on platforms are hard to get so you have to try a few times. Grab coins to finish the stage. Visuals are colorful and good looking. Soundtrack is great for an arcade game. A lot more fun to play with someone than playing solo. Recommended for coop otherwise skip it.
Why does this have mixed reviews? This was fun as heck????? Forget people complaining about multiplayer, this is an awesome co-op and single player umihara kawase game with the perfect level of difficulty and a ton of cool characters. On sale this game is an absolute must buy if you care about kawase games or just like fun anime games in general. I am so glad I took the chance on this game and you should too.

The following is an abridged transcript of a review video I did on YouTube: Umihara Kawase Bazooka actually uses the same game engine as UK Fresh, but repurposes it for this interesting twist on party fighters, by using the rubber-band action in an all new way. And now with a massive roster of characters, all being from Umi's backlog cast, SaiZenSen's other games, or from the publisher, Success. And also a Japanese Youtuber. Not that I'm insanely jealous or anything, that would just be ridiculous. And just like most of the other games in the series, there's no real actual story or reason for anything that's presently going on. You're just kind of supposed to accept what's happening at face value, fish-with-legs and all. And the whole thing looks great. It's done in the same super-deformed style that the Umihara series is known for and uses the same graphical engine as Fresh. So the colors are very vibrant and pop. The overall designs should look familiar, on account most of the game's enemies are repurposed enemies from Fresh, though some receive minor cosmetic alterations, and they share most of their attacks and abilities from the same. Fans of the series will appreciate the c…

This game is absolutely DogWater in terms of the single player? They took the worst mechanic from the original games and the made a whole game around it. Like WHY? Multiplayer is fun I guess, probably the best part of the game. But this game is just infuriating more than fun. Why does it not build around the core mechanic of the game. I feel like I can just run through the game with the skills ALONE. DO not purchase this game without the steep sale of 2 Dollars. Absolute nonsense. Plays this game for the super smash bros fun, not for umihara kawase. Also a horrible port PS. Keyboard controls not there, no effort put in the port.

With friends, this is really fun! Though get it when it's on sale, since it often goes on very deep sales, like -95% off.
