Frogmonster

This is a solid and fun game. It really is a wonder why it has so few reviews and players. This is an FPS adventure with voxel graphics, more focused on combat and boss fights than exploration and story. Juggling guns mid-fight and the mechanics of healing by using and hitting spells [i](instead of getting healing from defeated enemies or having a magical flask)[/i] is awesome. The integration of being a Frog and eating bugs to get temporal buffs or heals mid-combat and exploration feels right. Not only that, it integrates "perks" or "additives" in the same way as Hollow Knight from the bugs/critters you've eaten. It makes sense, it checks out. Personally, I never expected that a Frog with a gun would become one of the games I enjoyed playing most this year. I believe that it could have expanded a bit more on exploration and map design and a few optimizations. [b]Solid 8.5 / 10.[/b]

The frog monster sat on the highest gargoyle of the gray skyscraper, its bulbous eyes blinking at the dull world below. For five years, the city had been drained of its color by the Great Smog. Everything was a monochrome wash of charcoal and slate. But today, the monster had a secret. Deep in its throat, it held a glowing, swirling marble of pure sapphire—the last drop of blue in the world.With a massive gulp, the monster swallowed the marble. Its translucent green skin began to pulse with a vibrant, neon cobalt light. god, this game is so close to being good, but the flaws are really annoying and frustrating 1) when you respawn you start with half ammo and 0 mana. 2) they do not put fodder enemies between that checkpoint and the boss to give you mana or ammo 3) bosses do not spawn adds that give you hardly any mana in a lot of fights and barely any ammo in others you see the problem right? I am constantly out of ammo in like every fight after getting to the city, which is the back half of the game as far as I can tell, maybe even the back 2/3rds? on top of it all, the guns themselves have very small ammo pools. "oh mr. gamer, you are supposed to switch your weapons, you cannot main a weapon" oh believe me I know, you cannot use a gun for very long in this game because it's out of bullets quite fast. often I'm finding myself having to juggle my like 7?? weapons and figure out which ones have bullets in them still and wasting so much time swapping from empty weapon to empty weapon in fights and using the bad pistol while waiting for meager ammo to spawn. oh yeah, also my shotgun has 5 total bullets. it's really dire how little max ammo you get already, then they cut it in half... oh and like ♥♥…

First half is good, incredibly charming characters and visuals, tons of enemy variety, fun bosses, decent soulslike and boomer shooter mechanics. Level design leaves a lot to be desired, outside of the novelty of the voxel graphics, the layouts are just boring or confusing. Second half takes a big hit IMO, enemies become much more annoying to deal with, and boss fights become way too long and overdesigned. Still, worth checking out, the pure charm made me stick it out until the end.

This game really surprised me, and kept surprising me. The soundtrack is incredible and it kept opening up new depths as i went in. I expected this game to be half the size it is, And I would have been happy with that. Instead they made a much bigger game with no loss in quality, arguably the final areas are some of the best. It has some issues with performance and sone attacks feel frustrating, but they're barely noticeable with how grand the rest of this package is. I really loved Frogmonster

great game would recommend to anyone who enjoyed doom or the dark souls games i loved this game very much it just had this charm to it that made it a really enjoyable and unique experience. thanks for making this game.
