About Amber Isle

✦ AI summary

Amber Isle is a shop management and social simulation where you run the only store on a quirky island populated by prehistoric creatures called Paleofolk, gathering and crafting items tailored to their unique needs and sizes. Build your business empire, befriend 48 distinct Paleofolk characters with their own personalities and quests, and use your profits to rebuild the island itself and unlock new areas for your community to thrive in.

Welcome... to Amber Isle! A shop management/social sim set in a quaint, friendly world of prehistoric animal islanders called Paleofolk!

You’re tasked with running Amber Isle’s only shop. Gather, craft and sell items to meet the needs of your diverse Paleofolk customers. Does your brachiosaur buddy need a canvas as long as his neck? Maybe your microraptor amigo needs a mini-sized chair? Perhaps even some water-proof paper for a plesiosaur in peril? Different customers also have different needs, behaviours and preferences to learn. Haggle, pawn, and counter-offer your way to the top of the Shop Rankings! It’s up to you to run a successful shop to bring Amber Isle back from the brink of fossilisation!

Name, customise and run your shop your way! Use your profits to unlock new shop decor, walls, floors and more. As your shop gains popularity, plan your layout wisely, expand your floorspace and make your shop more efficient.

Rebuild the island!

You can also use your shop profits to help rebuild the island and unlock new areas. Decorate with paths, foliage, and amenities to make Amber Isle an attractive destination. Only then will our Paleofolk pals consider packing up and moving in permanently!

Paleofolk come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and species- it’s not just dinosaurs! There’s Ice Age mammals, Permian amphibians, marine life, invertebrates, and more! Amber Isle has 48 different Paleofolk to befriend, all with unique personalities, preferences, dialogue, and quests.

Get closer to Paleofolk by hanging out with them and fulfilling their requests. As your friendship grows, Paleofolk will share new upgrades and recipes with you. With your help, they can even build their own stalls, cafes, gardens, and communal areas on Amber Isle!

Express your penchant for the prehistoric by designing your very own Paleofolk! Change your clothes, crests, colours, and more in our character customiser! Pick from 5 body presets; Small Herbivore, Large Herbivore, Raptor, Large Theropod and Mammal. What type of Paleofolk will you be?

The Story So Far…

Amber Isle is down to its last remaining residents; the grumpy iguanodon Mayor Clawsworth, the peppy pteranodon courier Maple, and the mega-keen megalosaurus intern Adi. In a last-ditch attempt to revitalise Amber Isle, Mayor Clawsworth reluctantly agrees to let you open a shop. During your adventure, you’ll learn more about your new friends, the history of the island and how exactly it fell into disrepair…

So, what are you waiting for!?

Let's stock the shelves and dust the displays, because it's almost opening time for your brand new adventure on Amber Isle!

✦ AI summary

Amber Isle features charming character interactions and engaging character customization that players appreciate, but the game suffers from significant technical issues including bugs, poor controls, repetitive gameplay, and save file problems that undermine the experience. While some players find the unique dinosaur-themed shop management and town-building mechanics enjoyable enough to overlook the flaws, most reviewers feel the game plays like an unfinished early alpha and recommend waiting for substantial improvements rather than purchasing at this time.

I love meeting all the characters! There's always a lot to do

Honestly I try not to give negative feedback on things because I often believe that it is objective to enjoy things, or somethings has a chance to be better... but I have found this experience quite bad. The game starts a little buggy but I continued to play hoping that it was just some minor things that didn't affect the gameplay much, but as it went on it got worse, to the point I would say it's unplayable. I made the mistake of continuing to try it thinking maybe I'm just being picky - but with all the loading and needing to exit or redo things I already completed, I ended up not being able to refund it - I don't think I even made it past the tutorial. (which is my fault) but I'm now left with something that is barely playable. I'm honestly quite sad this is how it turned out... It seemed like a cute, fun game.

I tried to like this game. The first time I saw a playtest on youtube, I was interested in the game immediately. Thought it had potential. Sadly, when I purchased the game, I got incredibly disappointed. The game feels very unfinished, almost like an early alpha. The character customization is really fun, but the actual game aspects are lacking and well...super repetetive. Granted, I wasn't aware it was a shop simulator when I bought the game. I should've researched that part more. The controls are simply awful if you're playing with a keyboard, but work decent with a controller. The game has potential and there's a lot to expand on, but for what it is right now, it's not really worth playing. Overall, wouldn't recommend. Maybe for small children, but that's it.

This game is so good but it literally just deleted my save file and i have to play it over again, there was no save files or anything. everything has just been completely wiped. im mad but im give it another go because i really enjoyed it on my first playthrough!

I love this game. It's very cute and it makes me really happy to play it, I'm so glad I got it. The beginning part where you design your Paleofolk character was super engrossing, I spent a good long while customising my character and enjoyed checking out the various options. I'm looking forward to making new characters in future saves too! I love the unique dino theme this game has to offer, I've not seen anything like it elsewhere, and there's a range of different species represented, which I find very cool. For me, there's a good balance between the shop management and the town building aspects of the game. I've never felt like one or the other was taking over - each part feels like just the right amount, and I feel like there's enough to do to keep things engaging while also not being overly demanding. I also really like the way time progresses in this game - the time of day is divided into and displayed in segments (e.g. morning, midday, afternoon, evening) and it moves forward at a reasonable pace when you move to different areas, which gives me a chance to take my time and explore an area fully if I want to, without feeling pressured by a ticking clock. It also makes it ea…
