Depths Of Horror: Mushroom Day is a brief walking simulator with minimal content that most players complete in around 25 minutes, featuring a few jump scares but largely repetitive exploration and memorization. The consensus is that while it can serve as a casual late-night diversion, players overwhelmingly advise against purchasing it, with reviewers suggesting it is only worth playing if free.

Depths of Horror: Mushroom Day is an exploration horror game/“Arachnophobia II” simulator developed by TakeThem.Games, a studio whose history is honestly unknown through google searches. Like I legitimately can’t seem to find anything about them other than previous games that they’ve developed. Starting their releases in 2020, they’d release “BROTHER!!! SAVE HIM! - Hardcore Platformer” before releasing “Evil Ritual - Horror Escape” and “Vaccine Delivery Simulator” a couple months after that in March 2021. Reviews for their games were kind of all over the place, with positive reviews for the platformer and the simulator meme game, but with negative reviews for Evil Ritual. So the next title after Vaccine Delivery would be Depths of Horror, a game whose history in relation to me I also don’t remember, but considering that a lot of the game reviews were free I would anticipate that it’s why I ended up picking it up. I wouldn’t end up playing it until my “free/cheap Halloween Indiethon” though, streaming it for a friend of mine alongside Firewatch-like “Scorch” and PSX horror walking sim “The Nameless City”. Let’s begin with the plot. The plot literally has you play as some random pi…

No sugarcoating. Do not buy - even as a free game this is a disappointing experience.

Depths of Horror: Mushroom Day just felt poorly made. I didn’t enjoy it, and the whole thing seemed rough. Hard to recommend this one.

Depths of Horror: Mushroom Day is a decent free game with surprisingly appealing terrain and environments to explore. It runs well on a wide range of devices, including systems with integrated graphics, and its exploration and open-world-style elements give you room to wander and discover things. However, the game logic could be better, and the experience feels too short. The story also lacks a clear, natural flow, which makes it harder to stay invested. I mainly kept playing to earn all the achievements, but after a while, the grind became boring. It’s worth trying for free, but it has some noticeable shortcomings.

A short and fun game but it's not worth spending €5 on.

I lowkey loved this game, it was short and simple but nevertheless still had some sort of quality. The story wasn't realistic but it wasn't necessery. 10/10 would recommend
