Anime Studio Story

Kairosoft how I adore you <3 Not the most difficult game ever but it's whimsical and cutesy and that's all I need.

Anime Studio Story is very similar to Game Dev Story (which inspired Game Dev Tycoon), but it has its own unique twist: making anime. You start with a small studio, invest in upgrading your staff, develop characters, and train your team to unlock new genres and sub-genres. While the core loop looks almost identical to Game Dev Story on the surface, a couple of issues stand out. The main problem lies in the character systems. The game rewards you for using the same characters across multiple shows, allowing you to level them up over time. However, character creation is restricted to the Designer role, an occupation with notoriously low stat caps compared to a Director or an Executive Director. This creates a frustrating bottleneck in a core progression system. The game expects you to cycle through jobs to level up stats and unlock new roles, but this restriction directly inhibits that loop. To get around it, I had to temporarily reclass a high-stat employee into a Designer to create a character, then immediately reclass them back, costing a significant amount of money both ways. A very charming and simple Kairosoft game with a great gameplay loop. It is very similar to Game Dev Story, but with enough differences to set it apart.

It's was just Game Dev Story but with a fresh new coat of paint... Nothing new was brought in at all... more slop to come out of Kairosoft.

It's a little slow to get going and you will struggle really fast but if you keep at it you will get ahead. Other than that being the main issue, there's nothing else that's wrong with the game and it's pretty fun to play. You can create your own character and give it points to help it out. Karisoft games are also easy to max out your achievements but it takes time. So if you're into that, then I say go for it.
