Gameplay loop is not very fun. Way, way, way too many popups, making it almost impossible to play. Every step in making a movie has popups, and then many award ceremonies have nonstop popups, and this is multiplied when running multiple studios. Having to hire staff by talking to them on the street instead of just a hiring UI looks nice on paper, but feels annoying and iffy. Have to manually collect resources that have a low storage cap, being prevented by endless popups. The theme and concept is nice, the gameplay not so much. It has some design issues. My first movie and my last movie were basically identical in terms of gameplay, pick genres, ads and actors, then click through endless popups. Only difference is higher stats and bigger numbers. Also it is fairly short, and most of my time was spent clicking through popups. I have zero desire for replay, unlike other Kairosoft games. This was not very fun.3 found this helpful
Another, highly addictive Kairosoft game. Nice, and complex at times, but not to the point of being irritating.1 found this helpful
Developed and published by Kairosoft Co., Ltd., Silver Screen Story delivers an engaging management simulation centered on the glamorous yet demanding world of filmmaking. Staying true to the studio's signature design philosophy, the game combines charming pixel-art visuals with accessible business management systems, allowing players to build a movie studio from humble beginnings into an internationally recognized entertainment powerhouse. Rather than emphasizing fast-paced action, it rewards careful planning, efficient resource management, and creative decision-making, making it an enjoyable experience for players who appreciate thoughtful tycoon-style gameplay. The game's primary appeal lies in its satisfying movie production mechanics. Every project begins with assembling the right creative team, including directors, actors, writers, and technical staff, before selecting suitable genres, themes, and filming locations. Each decision directly influences the finished film's quality and commercial potential, encouraging experimentation with different combinations to discover successful formulas. Beyond producing movies, players are responsible for expanding the studio itself by co…
I felt like I was playing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Game Dev Story with just a new coat of paint, new scene and just same loop of gameplay with one annoying song that was constantly playing. Just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bore with no fast forward button.
It's fun. The gameplay is a lot more involved and satisfying than some bigger games with better graphics. You get to really control most aspects in the studio while still not being TOO micro-managey. Not a perfect game but very well made and scratches an itch most sims don't.
This is a cute looking little game with a lot to like about it. But the amount of things to dislike makes the game more annoying than fun. The main issue is interface. The game involves so much finicky little clicking on tiny people where you need to get an exact right pixel. Meanwhile, near constant pop-ups telling you about the events of your studio detract from your ability to actually do anything. Hiring staff is an exercise in frustration, as the only way to do it is talk to the little people wandering in front of your studio. If the game decides it's going to move you halfway across the map, just to tell you one of your sets leveled up, and you have to go find and click the little guy again it gets really frustrating. All this would be ok, if you could PAUSE the game. But no, while the game pauses during the constant pop-ups, you can't actually interact with your studio without the game running. The game starts with one speed, too fast, and apparently you can unlock an even faster mode. That must be an utter nightmare to try to play. With a fixed game length, 10 years, and so much time wasted, it's hard to excel at the game. Bottom line, unless the interface is…
