✦ AI summary

Source of Madness is an abstract horror rogue-lite that players consistently find difficult to navigate and understand, with complaints centering on confusing level design, unclear objectives, awkward controls, and sluggish enemy animations that make combat feel clunky. While some appreciate the artistic presentation, atmospheric world-building, and the ambition of its machine learning-based enemy AI, most players struggle with the overall execution and find the experience more frustrating than enjoyable.

It's just impossible to tell what's going on. You can't really tell where you're supposed to go or what you're supposed to do. The enemies move like a QWOP character. All of the equipment is random and progression is too slow. It's just a mess.

OK I suffered from a stroke. And my favorite genre is Metroidvania type games. Dead Cells or even Metroid umm. Mega Man. Platformers, this is something. Very strange. For me it's. Not very appealing. Thinking I'm going to have to refund it. I had some weird camera angles too. Reminds me of. Reminds me of. Umm. Risk of rain, A really rough around the edges.

How you managed to take a platformer and give it awful controls is pretty commendable. Even more amazing is the way you make it almost impossible to rebind inputs. Great presentation and shockingly good character movement with awful targeting and evasion. That charged evade mechanic is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I applaud the game dev for breaking ground on a very challenging area of game development .A lot of work has been put into an original idea and concept - I don't think most people will understand what makes this game so cool - enemies that have used machine learning to move and fight.

I cannot tell what is going on. The art style is intricate; the vibes are indeed horrifying. I'm intrigued the moment I start playing, its introduction suggests a setting in which I'm genuinely interested. The stilted cadence with which dialogue text is revealed suggests no one is entirely well, any more. But I cannot tell what is going on. I explore the starting sanctuary, some giant church with fellow cultists peppering its many floors. So many floors. There are many, many floors. Sometimes I am uncertain what constitutes a floor, versus a background decoration. They say things. Some refer to petty disputes across the disciplines, others to a long hidden shame. It's hard to keep track long enough to ascend the twelve staircases to an empty altar that serves no apparent purpose. I've forgotten where I started. Curiosity sated, I would like to start a run now. But I cannot tell what is going on. A many-limbed monster thrusts itself at me with a noise between a roar and a pained gurgle, thrashing wildly. Frantically, I cast every spell available to me. It unfolds a claw twice again as long as I am tall, sending me soaring. It does not damage me. I cannot tell what is going on. …
