Per Horus et Per ra! A mix of DOOM, Immortal Redneck and Hades sounds fantastic on paper. Unfortunately, this FPS roguelike feels more like a prototype for a great game than a finished one. The gameplay is fast and fun, combining DOOM-style combat and finishers with Hades inspired random divine upgrades. There’s definitely potential here, especially with the Egyptian mythology setting and its huge pantheon. The problem is the lack of content: only 2 worlds, 2 bosses, 3 non-upgradable weapons, 4 gods and around 6/7 enemy types. Just when I started getting into the game, it was already over. The game mostly tries to extend its runtime with hordes of damage-spongy enemies and a very basic progression system focused on things like damage and luck. I would have much preferred meaningful upgrades or new abilities (something like a double jump, for example). And unfortunately, the biggest issue is the PRICE! There is nothing wrong with making a short indie game or a small experimental experience, but the price needs to match the amount of content. [Figured I'd change the review from negative to positive - I wish steam had neutral ratings, ugh.] The positive rating is for the game design itself. It's amazing and I had a lot of fun, but the game is quite short, so buyers should be cautious. Wait to see if more levels are introduced! For the devs, from playing the demo, the full release was quite a lot shorter than I hoped it to be. It's been a while but I think my save data from the demo carried over to the game itself on release - which that itself is fine! I'm glad there wasn't any "padding" attempted to get over the two hour mark, but it's definitely a flaw where this game is as short as it is. It opens up malicious possibilities of people refunding upon completing, even I almost did, since I didn't think it'd be as short - but I chose not to. The studio doesn't deserve that, the devs don't deserve that. Imo they did a great job addressing concerns and player feedback. Hopefully new levels get introduced in the future (PLEASE build out more levels, it's a fantastic starting point), but I'd rather the game would've been held off for the sake of avoiding people refunding despite completing the game. Honestly I really really love this game, sure I took a long break but oh helly is it good !

Solid little game, fun to play for an evening not genius-level design decisions with some of the upgrades, but it's all solid and works together and never had me going "ah man" when I tried something. Speaking of trying something, you can unequip your weapon before going into a run. Honestly, made the game way more enjoyable for me, not having to aim as much or wait for reloads. ★★★☆☆/★★★★★ Ain't perfect, but it's good and that's all it needs to be.
