GunX - Lock and Load

It's an interesting game. It's not just another zombie wave shooter although it is also a zombie wave shooter. It's basically 3 games in one. There's the gun range. That's honestly not very exciting. Then you have the zombie wave shooter mode with gun assembly. That's interesting because of the gun assembly aspect. You basically have to be quick to build your weapon at the start. Zombies will run right out of the gate after you. You have to upgrade & buy new weapons as zombies get tougher. It's basically a room-scale 360 wave shooter though. Then finally you have the 1 v 1 duels. I don't think you'll go up against another human unless your buddy bought this game as well. Luckily, there are bots. You basically have the pressure of assembling your gun and trying to kill them before they can get their shots off. The gun mechanics and weapon handling are solid for the budget price. I think the game is... fine. I'm going to refund it, but it was up against what I believe is the best VR shooter out there and has been since its inception, H3VR. Because of that, I just don't see myself playing it. That being said, this review is based primarily on my (admittedly very little) experience with the game and not my love for H3VR. My main issue that stopped me from playing is the controls. I play on the Index, and the grip strength necessary to actually hold items in this game made me fear for my controllers' structural integrity. I had to squeeze the grips harder than I've ever squeezed anything in my life just to hold an item for 2 seconds, and I still kept dropping them. The gate on that needs to be brought WAY down. I understand this is so people aren't accidentally picking things up all the time, it's a notorious problem with the Index controllers, but this is insane the amount of effort I had to put in. I ended up switching to toggle hold for my single round of gameplay, but I don't like toggle so I found it annoying. Some games I like to give the benefit of the doubt to in an EA situation (DECAY is a great example of a 1 man team doing the most with what they have) ; this game is the opposite. I have no faith in this game whatsoever. Small things like self-aggrandizing promotions ("the ultimate VR Gun assembling experience" - lol @H3VR would like a word) already put me in a skeptical mentality going in - which sadly the gameplay perfectly complimented. I don't know if it's a simple variable being incorrectly assigned but *only* the most extreme grip (bordering on hardware damage) would get the in game hands to pickup a part. *THIS IS THE CORE OF THE GAME* - the entire game is billed as gun assembly and zombie shooting. If I can't even pick up the parts to assemble the gun, there's a serious issue here. And I'm on OEM Index hardware verified to work on dozens of other titles without issue. The problem is this game. IDK what the future has in store for it, but unless I see some serious changes to what should be "no-brainer" areas like grip input, then I don't plan on keeping this mess. It has a demo if you like it try it, the only caveat is the calibrate height , I can only get sitting mode to work, standing seems like my character is 4 meters tall or flying above any human. If they fix that this is an intense fun game and the weapons look and feel realistic, the zombie waves are cool too with limited ammo , and having to plan the survival tactics.
