Gravitee

[u] Gravitee [/u] is a game made by the indie dev, SightAfter. [h2] It's just basic drifting [/h2] The game revolves around the main concept of moving by rotating the level. This can lead to either really annoying gameplay or badass drifting depending on how the levels are formatted. In [u] Gravitee's [/u] case almost every single level (exceptions later) has that replayability factor that makes you come back for better stats. You play by one of the two control methods available, by moving your mouse or using A and D to rotate. For extra control, during the game you can increase or decrease sensitivity by using the scroll wheel or W and S. The controls are really simple and easy to pick up and use, and they also allow for complex gameplay when you're switching between sensitivities. [h2] Only 40 levels? [/h2] As I'm writing this, the game currently has 40 levels which can all be completed in about 7-13~ hours. But there is of course a collectable in the form of a coin. Each level has 3 coins ranging from an extension of the main level to the hardest thing you will ever see and spend over an hour on it. Remember Sandlot Games' Slyder games? It was a neat little top-down maze puzzle game where you control the titular ball and try and make him reach the exit while avoiding obstacles. It got a sequel called Slyder Adventures which seemed to be inspired by the Taito game Cameltry/On the Ball. And this game seems to be a spiritual successor of the latter. And I love it. With this and Considerable Grandfather being a spiritual successor to the Lode Runner-inspired Super Granny, we really seem to be in a age of Sandlot Games spiritual successors.

Very fun and overlooked little game. This is very similar to [I]On the Ball[/I] on the SNES and I like that game a lot, so this immediately called my attention when I saw it. I finished the game this week but do not yet have all achievements. The last few ones are [I]hard[/I]! I have the sub-70 minutes achievement and am missing two golden marbles in level 28, because as other reviews have stated that level is just miserable. I do not mind the second and third parts but the first is by far the worst thing in the game. Every time the nausea mechanic is used you're nearly guaranteed to not have fun; thankfully, the game keeps usage of that to a minimum. It also appears that spike hitboxes are needlessly punishing and you're often dying with the ball visibly not touching them (this is very noticeable 13 seconds into the trailer in the store page here). Wish it was possible to not die when touching them from the sides and to have their frontal hitboxes very lightly reduced! Still, don't let the lows outweigh the highs. Quite fun, especially for one dollar. Very challenging levels and unique concept!

I had a really good time with this game. I got hyper focused on trying to collect the golden marbles and died way more than I needed to. The game looks way easier than it actually is and momentum plays a huge role. Since spinning is the only tool you have, you need to figure out when to over spin to really slow yourself down and when just a little turn will cut it. The game is a pretty good indie game, the developer approached me to do a full game playthrough Video, unfortunately i couldn't complete this as i was getting motion sickness from playing. All in all though its pretty solid, challenging, i like the relaxing music that plays. the graphics are simple but clean. The controls are simple but i would like to see controller support in a future update. I received this free from the developer but I would happily play the full price of 89p (Currently 62p with the 30% off) to be in my library. i will keep my eye on this game and hopefully can complete it in the near future.
