Pitstop in Purgatory

[i]Pitstop in Purgatory[/i] is a visual novel meshed with a point-and-click adventure. Well written with interesting characters that all have their own stories to tell. [h2][u]The Story & Gameplay[/u][/h2] In [i]Pitstop in Purgatory[/i] you play as Astrid, who recently deceased, finds herself in Purgatory trying to figure out what happened to land her there and how she can move on. The story has a bevy of colorful characters to meet all starting with the guide. The first person you meet when you wake up in Purgatory. While interacting with the host of characters you meet along the way you will learn about them and their backstories. It is also important to note that outside of your route choice the story is mainly linear. You will be prompted at the end of Act 2 to pick who’s route you want to explore, Locke, Rahel or go solo. At the end of these three acts you will unlock the Guide’s route and the Epilogue on the main menu. This game has weak writing, insufficient character development, a bad interface, and too little scope. Though I admit the epilogue was interesting. So why did I play the whole thing? Well, I'm a sucker for afterlife games, and the demo seemed promising - it turned out that it had already introduced most of the characters and locations, though.

I'll be totally and completely honest--I am not a point and click girlie, and as advertised on the tin, this is HELLA pointy clicky. however! the artwork is beautiful and the storyline is surprisingly sort of sweet (at least, as far as i've gotten. i've made it down two paths but keep wiping/restarting/wiping/restarting because of my dreaded enemies, mr. point and mrs. click). i hope to one day make my way to the ending, especially because I have a sneaking suspicion that [spoiler] the guide is the true, secret romance [/spoiler]. one day i will point and click my way into his arms. one day. anyway. 85% of vn fans will enjoy this. only avoid if you're like me and--you guessed it-- hate point and clicks.
