Purgatory’s Flower

I really love the art style in this game and end up taking tons of screenshots. It does a great job of showing the characters’ emotions, especially during some of the darker and more disturbing parts of the story. The story itself is also very emotional and really catches my attention. You play as a prison guard in Hell, taking care of the prisoners and making sure they stay where they belong. One day, you discover a forbidden room where two prisoners are being held. They want to escape Hell and reach Purgatory, and you have to decide whether you want to help them or leave them behind. As you spend more time with them, you slowly learn about their pasts, their relationships, and the painful things they’ve been through. I really like how the puzzles are connected to each character and their story, so they feel like part of the narrative instead of just random puzzles. The game is tagged as horror, but I’d say it’s more psychological and disturbing than a game that relies on jump scares. This game is so simultaneously cute and devastating, I loved it. Initially my attention got caught by the gorgeous art, and the actual presentation ended up surprising me even more - the CGs and backgrounds are all beautifully designed, the mixture of elegance and surrealism particularly mesmerized me, plus the usage of color and detail is stunning! Also in general, I enjoyed the way the story flows between portraying realistic themes and incorporating absurd or silly elements. Even despite the script being rather brief due to the point&click gameplay, the characterizations and endings are truly well-written and I felt so sad for everyone. Lastly the soundtrack is immaculate, very fitting and atmospheric! I only disliked how the technical execution isn't very optimized, with basic functions such as skipping seen text or hiding textbox being unavailable, and I encountered occasional bugs too (mostly minor but once my save file corrupted my inventory which locked me out of progressing and forced to restart). Overall I highly enjoyed this though, it's a very pleasant and emotional experience!

I thought it would be something like Rusty Lake with more words and fewer puzzles, but it's just anime school drama. I don't care about typos and duplicate objects names (locker (1) - locker (2) / lamp (1) - lamp (2)). Plot itself is just so silly, that I even don't want to laugh at it. Art is fine, though.

found the game through my store page recommendation, and bought it w/ my remaining wallet cash.. the game is visually pleasing.. the artstyle, tough choices to be made & their consequences, and the characters expression rlly captivates elevated insanity and tension it was a really short and sweet game, just enough to feel kind of attached to the characters and their stories though i really wish i could interact with Red Ribbon more...

[b]ramblings:[/b] the art is so pretty and the mood of the game is great. the actual point and click puzzle gameplay can be a little poor at times though, the ui is rough, sometimes poorly translated, and at times feel like its a slapped together flash game. some puzzles also just felt too much like 'well, just click stuff till it works' rather than something you could actually intuit. it doesn't help that everything is already kinda surreal (which i like), though none of them felt like just a random puzzle, they did all fit. despite this, i do absolutely like it. the imagery is just great. there's very much a focus on exploring these two main characters, eunyoung and mabel, and the different endings felt like a natural consequence of your choices regarding them…
