✦ AI summary

Ghost Master Resurrection is a visually upgraded remaster of the cult classic that pleases longtime fans with improved graphics and new content, but is hampered by persistent bugs, broken mechanics, and what many perceive as low-effort development that shortcuts gameplay integrity. Common complaints include NPC pathfinding issues, mirror reflection problems that make certain characters invisible, and a general sense that the remaster relies too heavily on AI upscaling rather than thoughtful redesign. While some players find it playable and enjoyable despite its flaws, others feel disappointed

I've been following this project on and off for years, and I was so happy to finally learn they released the long awaited Resurrection edition. Imagine my major disappointment when I found out too late that they use Gen AI in their creation and in the game itself. I had a hunch while playing, and then I saw the AI generated sheep art in the sleeping mortal's dreams. The dishonesty in of itself is a slap in the face. Not to mention all those DLCs and the bugs still present (someone got stuck in a door a few too many times!) I recommend getting your money back if possible and just playing the Complete Edition mod on Nexus or Mod DB.

Ghost Master has been an October tradition for me every year since it first released when I was a kid. It's the very definition of a cult classic and has built a loyal fanbase dedicated to looking under the hood for secrets, cut content, and the possibility of modding. On paper, a modern remake should be just the ticket. The problem is the execution. The first year I started up the remake, I got a bad feeling on the very first level. I could look past the unpolished lighting and textures that gave it that "asset flip" look. It was in early development after all, with a new engine (though last I checked, after 1.0, it still looked the same. What was utterly baffling though were the design choices. The original Ghost Master was a collection and mirror of Halloween and movie tropes and settings as well as other pop culture movies, a love letter to the genre. I discovered some of the best pop culture movies of bygone decades by setting out to see every movie that has its title parodied in Ghost Master. This remake has no such soul. The first thing I noticed: gone are the 80s through 00s boxy CRTs in the levels, replaced by huge flat screen TV assets that are probably straight from the…

Honestly, I understand that negativity the game is getting, but I'm also very thankful that this game was made again because its one I played from time to time. It's nostalgic for me. The DLC are nice to have. And the smoother graphics are much appreciated for those of use who dont mess with mods

SO SO GOOOOOD

I love the original game, and this version does have a lot of positives. The graphics are obviously a lot better. Game logic has been improved -- for example, I noticed the prisoners now all flee when released. That always bugged me in the original game. But other things are actually worse. Example: when you click Go To, it goes to a top-down view. Why?? The UI is just terrible compared to the original. It's hard to see which ghosts you have out. Why do I need to push the space bar on the menu now?
