Very mediocre & RNG. No meaningful way to develop a strat except luck. Bland to watch, little to do. There are waaaay better RNG-heavy roguelites out there.

As a fan of roguelites, and games like balatro, this one just doesn't hit the mark for me. It really feels like they want you to just throw everything and the kitchen sink onto your board with no sense of direction simply because there is none. As I unlocked triggers and drafts to use I started to notice the ones that granted me victory in the early levels stopped appearing. The starting packs mean nothing because even if you pick gems or example, you could never ever find another gem mine again the whole run, thus eliminating that as a build. But you won't know it was eliminated as a build until it's too late. I like going in with the idea that this time I am going for a fire build, and if the game never gives me fire build things, I start to drown. Drowning is not fun. Yes, I know I can ban ones I don't want to use before starting a run but doing that for every build I want to run is annoying. Balatro was a goty contender for a very good reason. I could, with all of the tools the game gives you, still manage to pull out a victory more times than not because I could build into the cards I was looking for. Ballionaire is the kind of game that you have to play for a while to really understand it because it's hard to describe. Something like ancient Japanese Pachinko/EA's Peggle mobile app meets Vampire Survivors style progression, I guess. It's easiest to start with this as a game of Japanese Pachinko... the old gambling game of a grid of nails which a marble (ballon in this case) drops down through, bouncing off some pegs and landing somewhere. The key difference here is that you "build" special hotspots for the ball to bounce off/through, and this triggers special effects (like teleporting the ball, or giving you money, or opening a treasure chest with a small random % chance of something else happening). The goal of the game, then, is to make the most money possible by carefully placing these boosters to create combinations, giving the game an interesting building element. Where it falls flat? This is a rather expensive Godot 2D game (I'll say this might be the best Godot 2 game ever made, and no, that is not praise, Godot's 2D engine has never been used to make a truly successful, serious PC game, yes, the 3D engine is okay but most amateur developers don't understand 3D…

The game is trash. The ball would slip through the bonks and i would lose. Sometimes it would just fling off the map. it is a waste of time. if it did what it was suppose to it wouldn't be bad.

It's garbage.. but it's addictive garbage.. It only gets a thumbs up cause I'm drunk and high.

This is one of those games where you make a decision, then sit back and watch the outcome. Unlike a tower defense, the goal is to maximize the number of things moving around the field, not minimize them. Lots of strategies to follow. Fun animations and art style. Absurd and outlandish in the best ways. It also has that marvelous aspect of being better each time you go through via the unlocks. Good stuff.
