DISTRAINT 2 took everything I loved about the first game and somehow made it hit even harder. The atmosphere, the story and especially the emotional side of it completely pulled me in. I already loved the first game, but this one stayed with me even more. What a sequel. Absolutely loved both of them.

like the first game, it's very unique, but in a good way. it's also very immersive. this one feels like a complete upgrade over the first, taking pretty much everything that was even slightly annoying about the original and improving it. it's also longer than the first game, which is nice. i saw there's apparently a petition to encourage the developer to make a third game. it would be interesting because i think the story ended in a pretty good place, but I'd still love to see a third game regardless. pretty decent recommendation, BUT PLAY THE FIRST GAME BEFORE THIS ONE, obviously.

Recommended. A short, clever psychological journey through a surreal mindscape where emotions appear as characters, and a closing twist that places the entire story inside a single second, winning the trade of puzzle depth for narrative payoff. The screen and music visibly tear apart in darkness because the protagonist is scared of the dark, working early and reframing every shadow as characterisation. Therapy-session chapters (Agony, Loss, Forgiveness, Realisation) build to a confronting childhood nightmare, the Hope's Domain domestic sequence is an unexpected mood lift, and the note-frequency machine puzzle is the strongest mechanical beat. Running, new to the series, speeds traversal. Roughly two hours in one sitting. Puzzles are noticeably simpler than the first game, the console mapping shows PC keybinds with no equivalents, and the item-found fanfare startles more than any intended scare. Hiding rarely matters with no real fail state. Both entries together come recommended as a pair.

This game was a masterpiece, I really recommend it! Take a look at the first one too. It's a short game, the story and the gameplay are both amazing! It's sad that it isn't that popular it really should be, the message is really touching!
