Dog Duty

Dog Duty is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. It's a tactical RTS, that is to say, an RTS but without any base building or resource stuff. You know the missions in Command & Conquer where you weren't allowed to build a base or build new units, and you had to try scrape through carefully with the tiny handful of soldiers they give you? Yeah, I hated those. This game is basically "Oops, all squad missions". Ugh. I really think before any developer makes an RTS they should first be forced to play RTS games so they can learn what RTS games are all about. One important note is that even though this is an amateur project, it does seem to be sincerely and genuinely made. I couldn't find any flipped assets, plagiarism or any other kind of insincere actions from the developer, but unfortunately genuine intentions alone are not enough to produce a brilliant PC gaming experience. [h3] An enjoyable ride which feels geared towards casual fans of the genre, if not absolute newbies. [/h3] By no means a long game, and besides the campaign there is a horde mode playable in 3 different settings. Not much in the way of story, but the gameplay loop, while simple, is quite fun. TL;DR: Cool style with pretty boring gameplay loop, tried to give it a chance two times 1360 days apart, didn't even have the will to get through the first area both tries. Yeah, i don't have much to say about it, when you play the game, you can feel that some love went into it but not much work nor even post-delivery care, some mechanics feel very clunky and the combat is... Lackluster, to say the least, i mean, it's literally just selecting a character (Or every character at once), clicking on an armored enemy and just hoping he doesn't one-shot you, don't even get me started on the mounted guns, if an enemy gets on one of those, you have to pray to whatever's up there that your characters wont get turned into swiss cheese before you have a chance to shoot him.

I bought this game for less than a dollar during the sale. The progress of the game is cute and the dot graphics are lovely. I think it's a game worth trying. Joypad manipulation is exotic but not intuitive. It's optimized for keyboard and mouse manipulation. Choose three troops to move strategically together or fight separately. I also feel the sensibility of the classic dos game.

This is a great concept but the amount of gamebreaking bugs literally makes it unplayable. If these were fixed it would be a fun game.
