Syberia - Remastered

Syberia est l'oeuvre vidéoludique de Benoît Sokal, un BDiste talentueux qui nous a quittés il y a quelques années. Ce jeu est le remaster du jeu sorti en 2002, et je le trouve globalement bien réussi. Les nouveautés apportées par le remaster sont les suivantes : - Si les graphismes sont plus avancés que l'original, ils restent limités. On saluera malgré tout les superbes scènes : urbaines, forestières, enneigées...aussi bien à Valadilène qu'à Arlbad, grace à des effets de lumières réussis. - Les environnements ont été remodélisés et restent fidèles aux originaux. De même pour la plupart des personnages, sauf l'héroïne Kate Walker qui est malheureusement méconnaissable...On notera que les animations restent, elles, les mêmes que le jeu original, donc les personnages restent très rigides, leurs mouvements sont peu naturels et leurs expressions limitées aussi. - La plupart des cutscenes n'ont pas été remasterisées et sont donc identiques à l'original - par manque de budget ? En tout cas, ces transitions abruptes peuvent créer un inconfort. - L'interface à été retravaillée : les dialogues sont plus lisibles (on sait lesquels sont nécessaires pour faire avancer l'histoire) tout comme …

I loved the original however this remake is sad. I wasn't able to complete a playthrough because the game freezes in the middle of cut scene and continues to load there. Because you cannot manually save, the only option would be to start entirely over.

I finished Syberia - Remastered, and as someone who has completed the original game multiple times, I can say that this remaster gave me a new burst of inspiration to play the series again. After diving back into the world of Benoît Sokal, I couldn't help but start playing Syberia II again. I understand that this is a remaster, so I wasn't expecting any new storylines or major surprises. Still, I would have appreciated some more challenging logic puzzles. There was an attempt to introduce one or two new, relatively easy puzzles, but apart from that, there were few surprises. In some cases, the gameplay was even simplified—for example, the console now tells you when Oscar's legs have been produces incorrectly. One disadvantage I have to point out is the handling of the original cutscenes. Most of them seem to have simply been carried over from the original game. I actually have nothing against that -they bring a wonderful spark of nostalgia-as long as the video and audio are synchronized correctly... Insufficient funding and then a studio closure... Microids, you really have done Benoît's legacy dirty.
