✦ AI summary

The Spatials: Galactology is a space colony sim with engaging mechanics that can be enjoyable at smaller scales, but it suffers from significant performance issues that severely limit progression—players report stuttering and poor optimization on both modern CPUs and Steam Deck as stations grow medium-sized. Beyond performance, the game has numerous bugs affecting resource collection and character behavior, overly simplistic graphics, and tedious micromanagement elements that detract from the experience, though some appreciate the lower price point and variety of mechanics for casual players w

Man, I want to love this game - but I hit a wall every time I play it. Not because the game is bad, but because of performance issues. It appears to do most work on a single CPU core and, as soon as you have a "medium" station, you start getting stuttering that makes the game unplayable. I came back to give it a go with my Ryzen 3600.. it didn't fair much better than my previous Intel 3770k. Performance issues were also seen on Steam Deck. I love this sort of game, and I am just sad that with 70+ hours played, I have never been able to build a full station.

I liked the previous version of this game but the 'new' one has a bug that stops me from getting through the tutorial. Seems to be a Mac only bug.

With a small station the game plays fine but I'm sure certain devices will get performance issues with larger stations. This is pretty fun in a semi-casual package. I haven't had any raiders yet but so far even visiting the nearby planets has gone okay, so long as I don't let my people get swarmed.

There are numerious game breaking bugs. Such as resources are not collected from planets, characters stay in low "Mind" even though issue with payment was solved. Also music is so annoying and buggy.

The Spatials: Galactology – More Like Galacti-nahhh 🤦‍♂️ The Spatials: Galactology promises a fun space adventure where you build and protect your colony. In reality, it’s a frustrating mix of outdated mechanics and tedious micromanagement. You’ll spend more time fixing power outages and malfunctioning systems than enjoying the supposed galactic exploration. 🚀💥 The graphics feel too simplistic for the game’s ambitious premise, and the lack of meaningful progression makes the whole experience repetitive. Exploding homeworlds sounds cool, but it quickly becomes shallow and uninspired. 💔👾 If you’re after a complex and engaging space colony sim, The Spatials: Galactology misses the mark. There are better ways to explore the stars. 🌌🚀 Score: 4/10 Created with <3

Had a lot of fun playing this colony sim several years ago. Very much enjoyed the amount of content and the different mechanics at play, though in some cases half the fun was figuring out how it all worked. If you're into colony sims and don't mind a bit of combat and are capable of braving the unknowns of space, it's certainly a game worth playing (especially at a price point below $15!).
