About Fumiko!

Fumiko! takes you on a surreal trip through a twisted virtual reality. Uncover the secrets this world tries to hide from you: an artificial intelligence named "Fumiko"!

Fumiko! takes a unique spin on platforming. Bend the definition of gravity and glide majestically to bypass tedious precision jumps. This game is a dystopian sci-fi thriller that wants to be explored thoroughly.

Fumiko! offers you:
 • A compelling, philosophical story
 • Beautiful areas to explore
 • Unique, weird characters to meet
 • Freedom of movement unlike any other platformer
 • Hostile environments challenging your ability to overcome impossible odds
 • Collectable memory fragments that contain the network's darkest secrets
Developer Note: While this game tells a story about Artificial Intelligence, it does not relate to GenAI in any way, neither does it endorse it. The story was written before GenAI gained popularity and if anything, anything told in it is a condemnation and warning of what GenAI represents.

Fumiko!, developed and published by Fumiko Games, is a bold and surreal 3D platformer that ventures into the realm of digital consciousness and existential exploration. Set in a strange virtual network, the game follows the journey of an artificial intelligence named Fumiko as she awakens in a fragmented cyberspace and begins to search for meaning, identity, and freedom within an environment that constantly shifts between order and chaos. It’s a game that fuses abstract world design, ambient music, and introspective narrative fragments to create a meditative experience that feels as much like a philosophical art project as it does a traditional platformer. From its first moments, the player is enveloped in an atmosphere of mystery—a world where nothing is quite tangible, and every jump through its surreal landscapes feels like a metaphor for Fumiko’s awakening awareness. The visual presentation of Fumiko! is striking in its originality. The game’s minimalist yet vibrant aesthetic paints a digital world made up of glowing lines, floating geometric shapes, and vast, empty spaces that evoke both freedom and isolation. It feels less like a physical space and more like a living circuit…

Fumiko is a stunning game, with a distinctive art style and an interesting story to match. It's worth noting however, the bulk of the story is told through logs you find throughout the areas of the game. You can choose to ignore them and follow the main plot of the game, but you may find it less interesting and less clear as a result. In terms of gameplay this is a fairly unique 3D platformer in that as you proceed it increasingly removes many of the limits found in other platformers. Double jumping is only the start, towards the end you can jump as much as you like. Same deal with limited "sprinting", or dashing in this case, as you approach the end you can simply dash as long as you like. Possibly as a consequence of this, the camera can go awry at times. Speaking of, by default the camera is set to auto-turn/auto-rotate (I forget the exact terms used) to stay behind the character. Personally I'd recommend disabling this (at least if you're playing with a controller) as otherwise you may find yourself fighting with the camera more than you'd like. Regardless, if you enjoy 3D platformers and exploration games, Fumiko's a great time. A fairly unique setting and…
