Deckalypse

At first glance, this might look like a Slay the Spire clone with a zombie skin. This is NOT the case. The game is focused more on upgrades between runs, by hunting specific types of zombies, gather resources and build up your camp. At the current price point of €5, I can definitly recommend it.

Its a game that cost 5 bucks with more story than some 40-60 dollar games. The game mechanics work well. It has enough challenge to stay interesting. Give it a try if you are looking for something to play between the next AAA Game disappointment if you like the genre.

This was a Surprise, everything is solid, rivaling some more expensive games in this genre. I enjoyed the novel idea of the lanes, the difficulty seems just right and the continuous meta progression and currency building up between runs instead of losing it all is appreciated. Its been more than a bargain, I'm hoping the game finds success, for now, I'd love to see more Heroes Portrait options, or at least an option to upload our own images to be the heroes, or enemies and heck, maybe allow for STEAM Workshop integration to create our own cards, Heroes, as well as modify other elements of the game! My only qualms are with the Ai, Replacing it with commissioned artwork down the line would definitely help more people want to play. For the price and the fun factory, I stand by this game!

One of the coolest if not the coolest card game I've ever played! It brings a bit more RPG in Card Games than your usual "deck building game". The characters so far have their "roles" and there are some different things you can prioritize when selecting cards at level up or at "break throughs" (bosses, area changes, etc.). So it's not just a numbers game. There's a lot to consider when selecting which cards to play at any given moment, and the combat is very satisfying IMO. I enjoy pushing and pulling around as well as stacking bleed/root on annoying enemies. It's lovely watching them get a ton of bleed damage and do nothing about it while you use a turn to heal up the party. There's a lot of possible combinations for decks, as far as I've come, and I hope there's more, since there's another 5 or 6 areas I need to reach. The difficulty curve seems appropriate since you are in a "rogue-lite" card game, and buffs stack up from upgrades you buy in between runs. In my first run I died at "The Horde", the last boss of the first area, and up to that point there were some easy and some hard moments, with hard moments showing up more often, but I still was always able to find an out, eit…

Ultimately I ended up refunding it, but it's not a bad game. This is a unique roguelike deck builder that reminds me of Shelter from back in the day. The asthetics of the game are great, there's a lot of stuff to unlock, everything is smooth, and even though I didn't play for more than an hour, I think there's a lot of potential here. I have three main issues. There's a lot of buffs/effects and while there is a compendium to see what everything does, it'd be far more helpful to have a way to hover over the cards and have a little side tooltip popup explaining the effects, like most other card battlers do. Maybe I didn't spend enough time looking but I also did not see a button for the compendium while I was in the middle of a battle. Second, it looks like there's only 4 characters, and while you can shift their stances around, I didn't really see much point in doing so in the 1 hour that I played. I think being able to shuffle them is a neat feature, but I think it needs to have some more tactical/strategic value added to it.
