About Paradise Lost: FPS Cosmic Horror Game

This is the Pre-Alpha release of the game and does NOT represent the finished product. It's at a very early development stage so that means I'm open for suggestions for the next Alpha releases leading to the beta and final game.

Remember, YOU, the player, are the most important part of this project, your review/feedback will determine where this game will go.

I'm always active on forums and social media so I always listen to everyone's feedback, don't be shy to message me addressing any bug or stuff that should be changed/improved.

The game revolves around a very peculiar kind of horror called Cosmic Horror, making the player feel the fear of the unknown and unfathomable and struggling to survive in situations you may call hopeless. The player will be able to make use of guns, however, that will not be the main focus, guns won't be enough to deal with the enemies I have in store. You have to use your wits and take decisions in order to make it through.

This first Pre-Alpha demo will have the key feature of the game but with some of them still unpolished, you will have access to one long demo level with a beautiful immersive environment but watch out, you don't know what might lurking behind this landscape.

You will have access to weapons, 3 to be precise, but the ammunition will be scarce, you will need to be careful with how you use your resources.

The enemies right now will be demo-exclusive, meaning that they won't appear in the final version of the game, those will be much more frightening, but that doesn't mean you will be able to underestimate them.

The game will also have one level for it's survival mode, where you will face countless waves of enemies charging at you, with very small time for you to refill in between.

More content will come in following updates.

The story

The story takes place on a planet which name is still classified, a week prior to the events of the game a scientific research team went missing on that planet, they were studying the flora, fauna and vestiges of an ancient civilization that disappeared thousands of years ago without leaving a trace. Although the planet looks lush and full of life, it's pretty much devoid of sentient beings and animals. After many other mysterious events, it was decided that military intervention was necessary. An Spec Ops team was sent to the planet to unravel this mystery.

What will their fate be, what will they encounter, what lies beneath that God-forsaken rock?

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's creative potential, excellent graphics, and solid level design, but the experience is hampered by significant technical and gameplay issues. Common complaints include poor mouse sensitivity controls, lack of checkpoints forcing repeated playthroughs, imbalanced enemy encounters with insufficient ammo, visual glitches, and unresponsive combat feedback where defeated enemies don't show death animations. While the atmosphere and environment design show promise, the game needs substantial polish and balance adjustments before it feels like a complete product.

I've got to go to bat for this one. True, releases have been slow thus far, but the developer explains why in his posts. What is here has a ton of potential, in my opinion, and is quite playable. There's a good deal of creativity already present. Graphics and movement are both excellent, supported by a level design that just made me curious about what else was out there. Make no mistake, there's not a lot here yet, so if you're looking for a completed product, you might want to wait a bit. That said, it looks like things might be picking up this year.

Ok here some things CONS can i post pictures of building missing walls can see trees and rocks mid air game still needs a lot of work even in beta stage I would have finished this and then released it. lack of ammo and weapons at start least a knife in case you run out of ammo too many aliens out number the bullets you have. save location would be nice you die and start over again and again not fun! cant go in water but aliens can? you get cornered in bad areas and die again.NO ammo! textures in floors of step pyrimids flickers over lapping? PROS game enviroment looks great

This is a interesting concept, but needs profound improvement. There is no gameplay settings to adjust mouse sensitivity. When I slightly nudge my mouse, the cursor flies seemingly 90 degrees across the screen. This is very irritating and disorienting while searching new areas and during combat. The combat gameplay is too basic, at least at the beginning stages. The enemies first encountered die from multiple bullets, but do not fall nor slump over when dead. I ended up wasting several bullets on each enemy after they were already dead, making the mission basically impossible. There are also no saving checkpoints, even in places where it would be logical within the story. Players have to replay the entire section after dying.

I think it would be nice if there were less small enemies and more big baddies that are actually scary. Being swarmed by small creatures here feels like being swarmed by antlions in HL2
