Aashaa is a beautifully executed, highly responsive 2D precision platformer that serves as an instant 30-minute injection of classic indie arcade adrenaline. Taking place in an atmospheric Medieval India setting, the narrative follows royal princess Aashaa after she is betrayed by her jealous brother Bakwas and cast down into the kingdom's ancient, hazard-filled dungeon grid. Your sole operational objective is to sprint, double-jump, and wall-slide through the layout floors to reclaim your rightful throne.Spending exactly half an hour inside the client is the ideal duration to clear the base campaign levels and experience the game's unique mechanical identity. The controls feel tight, which is critical when navigating tricky spikes and precisely tracking narrow jump trajectories. The storytelling approach is hilariously tongue-in-cheek, utilizing a mock vocal loop where characters baby-talk to poke fun at typical adventure clichés. A highly intuitive speedrunning timer framework is cleanly integrated straight into the active user interface, actively encouraging you to repeatedly hunt for game-breaking physics exploits and shortcuts. I'm beginning to go through my games library, and along side that review each game as I come to them, this marks the beginning of a journey, this game is the first. Aashaa is a relatively simple but delightfully challenging 2d platformer that is quite short but overall a very enjoyable experience. While it doesn't do anything particularly noteworthy with the genre, it rather excels in the basics, definitely a great start. The graphics is designed in a rather simple 2d pixelated form and serve just well enough, nothing stands out here which is just fine given the game's intent as well as it's limited scope. You see much of the same assets as you go through maps, a treasure chest here, a barrel there, while not really adding anything super unique to the backdrop of brick, it sufficiently adds enough to keep your eyes from complete monotony which is welcome. I would have loved to have seen some more unique additions along the way, markings on the walls or perhaps a statue you jump over for example, just something to give the dungeon a bit more flavor. The story itself is short and sweet, you're set to be the queen as the previous matriarch has died but your belittled brother …

The game is fun, very fun. What broke the fun for me though is the dash is very inconsistent. You barely move in the air and its kind of broken in my opinion. the sound the dash makes is louder then the movement you actually do. If the devs could fix the dash distance just a tiny bit, this game would be awsome. The dash is just to hard to work with, and in this kind of game thats not good.

Short, pretty easy, not much to say really. It’s free and is a cromulent enough platformer.

quite a fun game! i would love to see more varieties in terms of environments (perhaps with unique interactables) tho. that would be so cool nonetheless, i had fun, and for a free game, it was a good casual platformer. 8/10
