I’m going to be honest, this game is by no means perfect and does have issues, but I really enjoyed playing this game. This is the first time I played it on a desktop (the first time I originally played it was on my iPad in 2014). It’s a shame to see that a lot of the reviews dislike this game, and I get it for certain reasons. If you enjoy 2D platformers, then this game is honestly engaging and a difficult challenge. A lot of it is high-paced shooting. The good - The gameplay is honestly fairly decent, but not that complicated. You have 3 planes that you can pick from: the Beast, the Freshmen, and Tyker’s. All 3 play differently, but the beast is the best one that there is since he does the most damage, and has the most health. - The bosses are very funny to play against, and are also very difficult and give you a actually good challenge to fight against, especially the fire plane. I will say the final boss is incredibly difficult to beat. As well as the Zeppelin. Although some of the levels are repetitive, there is enough to keep you engaged and to keep on playing. - I honestly like the art style. I think it fits very well. The bad - The grind in this game is annoying…

Aces of the Luftwaffe, developed and published by HandyGames, is a retro-inspired top-down aerial shooter that draws heavily from classic arcade traditions while framing its action within a stylized World War II setting. The game places players in the cockpit of Allied aircraft tasked with defending Britain from relentless waves of enemy planes and armored forces. Rather than focusing on historical realism or simulation mechanics, it embraces an arcade philosophy built around constant motion, rapid-fire combat, and screen-filling enemy patterns. The result is a straightforward shooter designed for quick bursts of action and accessible gameplay. At its core, the experience revolves around navigating horizontally scrolling stages filled with airborne adversaries, ground-based artillery, and imposing boss encounters. Controls are simple and responsive, allowing players to maneuver their aircraft freely while unleashing continuous streams of fire. Power-ups collected during missions enhance offensive capabilities or provide temporary defensive boosts, reinforcing the arcade loop of dodge, shoot, and survive. The emphasis remains on reflex-driven gameplay rather than tactical depth, ma…

I want to start off by saying that I probably have close to 30 hours in this game in mobile and in other pc ports. It was a classic for small me. Aces of the Luftwaffe is one of the rather compact bullet hells. It's very humble in its presentation and doesn't overstay its welcome in terms of level count. But it gets close. You find yourself replaying old levels and re-doing certain boss fights over and over again just to get enough in-game currency to upgrade your plane to slightly even the odds against the harder bosses. The grind in this game is especially boring. And calling these bosses hard is an understatement. Fights often don't teach you anything with each death, it is mostly trial-and-error and these guys have quite a lot of attacks and gimmicks up their sleeve you need to memorize. No room for mistakes. They hit like a truck and getting hit once at the start or the middle of the fight marks you for death until the end. And when it's all over, the game just kinda... ends? Yeah. It's very anticlimactic and I can't give a positive rating just because of that. You don't get a prize other than the thousands of in-game currency you don't need (Which is awarded the first time …
