Active Soccer 3

The developer is giving this regular updates and it is getting substantially better each time. It is really good now and I suspect it is going to get even better! Some of the bad reviews are from before a major update. Hope people give it a shot!

This is brilliant. It's Sensible Soccer style but with much better graphics. And the play is not scripted like Fifa games. How you play will determine the result - not the CPU. I would love to see ageing players in future editions but this is a very nice playable football game. Hats off to the developer and thanks!!

A very good old-school arcade game. The default speed of the match can be manually adjusted which is great because the default was too fast for me. Career mode, although quite simple, is a cool addition to the game. I also like that you can easily change the names of players and you can easily find updated databases with real names online. It would be cool if you could start your own club in the bottom league. One criticism I have is how you defend. The automatic switching between players is very bad. The logic should be improved. It seems to me like it is only related to the distance of the player to the ball while not taking into account where the ball is going. Also, maybe it would be a good idea to implement a pause of maybe 2 seconds in automatic switching when you manually switch a player. Which player you manually switch to first should also be improved (see arguments above). Keep up the good work! In the world of AAA slop we need more games like this.

It has potential. Attacking feels good, but right now I would not recommend this game for one reason: the defense is extremely bad due to poor player switching implementation. It's very common in this game that you will never be able to select the player you actually want to select for defense like in other football game. I have read that the newest patch improve on this, but as a new player who just try out the game, it's still pretty bad that I honestly cannot imagine what it would be like in the previous version. Edit: try auto configuration and it somehow worse than manual. Player just randomly switching while an opponent is dribbling. If you play on lower difficulty or against low rank team, this might not be a problem but it's pretty unplayable otherwise. Feel like you try to fight the control scheme rather than the opponent.

Improves with every patch/updates. Good for a quick session. More arcade-style focus. Runs smoothly on steam deck.
