Agrivore: Incremental Farming

There are some incremental games that try to reinvent the genre, and there are others that simply understand why people like incremental games in the first place. Agrivore: Incremental Farming falls very firmly into the second camp. It isn't particularly groundbreaking. It doesn't suddenly redefine incremental gaming or introduce some revolutionary mechanic that I've never encountered before. What it does do, however, is provide that wonderful little dopamine hit that every good incremental game needs. And sometimes that's exactly what I want. 🌱 Agrivore starts innocently enough. You have crops. You harvest crops. Numbers go upwards. Excellent. I'm happy already. 😂 But, as you'd expect, things don't stay quite that simple. As you progress, crops become increasingly difficult to harvest, new ways of dealing with them become available and what began as some relatively peaceful farming gradually turns into considerably more chaotic harvesting. At its best, Agrivore becomes wonderfully ridiculous. There were moments where harvesting was happening so quickly and so much was going on across the screen that I could barely keep track of everything. Numbers were flying around…

Agrivore is the most well balanced incremental game I've ever played. It flows seemlessly, and the mechanics never outdo themselves. It has the pitfall most incremental games have where the music and sound is repetitive, but otherwise it's the incremental game other incremental games should be look toward to understand pacing. It's mindless, but the strategy comes in what you unlock and what you choose to use as your crops, weapon, and additional buffs. High recommend for incremental lovers.
