Alexia Crow and the Cave of Heroes

A meh, unmemorable point and click game.

Aggressively mediocre port of an Adobe Flash-based point-and-click game which you can play for free online.

It's not a good game. But if you still really want to finish it and getting stuck on a starting screen - it's a technical problem with high resolutions. The only thing that helped in my case is forcing game to run in 640*480. Open game folder than open .exe file Properties. It's in one of the tabs.

Alexia Crow is a classic point-and-click adventure, but unfortunately it is also one of the worst examples of the genre I have played. The game is extremely unforgiving. A single wrong click can send you all the way back to the beginning, and the save system is bafflingly bad, making trial and error more frustrating than fun. For a genre that relies heavily on experimentation, this design choice is simply painful. Even considering the game’s age, the presentation is inexcusable. The graphics are ugly, the sound effects are poor, and the voice acting is laughably bad, often breaking any remaining immersion. Puzzles range from insultingly easy to bizarre and illogical, with little sense of consistency or satisfaction. Only the first two chapters are available on Steam, and honestly, that is a blessing. The story makes very little sense, and after enduring what is already available, I have no desire to continue. There is nothing here that justifies pushing through the frustration. Unless you are a hardcore adventure game completionist with infinite patience, this is one game best left unplayed.

This game has a remarkably clunky UI, and some pretty poor voice acting. Some of the puzzles in the first chapter are entertaining (or would be, if you didn't spend 50% of the time frustrated about the horrendous UI), but it devolves pretty quickly into complete and utter nonsense.

Wow. I love point & click style games with puzzles in them... but this... this drove me up a wall. Chapter 1 started out easy enough but then the puzzles went weird and IF there was a clue it was extremely vague. Chapter 2 just fell into a rabbit hole of WTF. Both story and puzzles took a weird turn. As this game is so old, trying to find answers/walkthroughs is neigh impossible. I managed to cobble enough help together to get to the end. IF i replay this I'll do it just to make 1 complete walkthrough for the other poor souls that get sucked in and are too stubborn to quit. Game also leaves you on a cliff hanger. To be continued.... and nothing. Guess that shows us how popular it really was that they couldn't commit to finishing. Okay, that was rude of me... There was a "In memory of" so perhaps that person was a driving force and without them they couldn't continue? Maybe that's why things went so sideways? Either way, for it's current cost it's not worth the hassle. Get it on EXTREME discount (90%) to make it worth the hassle.
