About ALONE? - VR
Immerse Yourself In This True Virtual Reality Horror Game.
THE GAME
Explore and experience a fully immersive world as you embark on an ghostly adventure unlike anything you have played before. Come face-to-face with terror itself as you navigate around a haunted house, underground caverns, caves, and an old decrepit morgue. But beware: some mysteries are better left alone.
SYNOPSIS
Your sister Michelle, is missing. All you have to go by is a letter that was sent to you by post. The letter is a plea for help; it begs for you to return to the home you grew up in, and to save her from the strange occurrences that have been plaguing her over the past few months.
THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF THE GAME
When you begin, you have entered your sister’s house. Rain pours down from the heavens and distant sounds of thunder and lightning can be heard. You struggle to breathe as you take your first step forward in to the darkness. Brace yourself, things are not what they seem.

This game is an excellent game ruined by a couple of really bad design decisions. I played this game with my daughters for 2 hours, loving every minute of it. Then got to the very end of the game and... died... I had no idea what killed me or why. So now I have to restart the whole game (no saved game!) and replay *all of it* if I even just want to find out what killed me, must less try to beat the game and get one of the good endings. Not likely to happen. Think I'm done. To the devs: I will redo my review if you fix this problem. Or point me to how to save the game properly. To potential buyers. Other than this, this really is a good game. I actually think it's scarier and more fun than Paranormal Activity (well, pros and cons to both) though not as good as A Chair in a Room: Greenwater, though that is a really high bar to compare to.14 found this helpful
I want to play this game. But this game doesn't want me to play it. - Loading takes way too long; it's 30 seconds of a message about how people with heart problems shouldn't play the game, and another 30 seconds of a loading screen. - First door wouldn't open; had to restart game. - After restarting (and waiting another minute to load), this time the door opened. I found a note in which a girl says she thinks she's being watched, I dropped it, it briefly started falling then it was magically back in my hand... the second time I dropped it, it clipped the floor and was gone. (to devs: I was standing just under the ceiling light) - That room's door wouldn't open either, so I decided to restart the game and try again one last time - First door wouldn't open AGAIN I tried, I swear I tried. But this classifies as unplayable. I'm not sitting through a minute of loading AGAIN only to face yet another broken door. Obs: I was playing with the Rift and Touch controllers.8 found this helpful
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers. No Spoiler Review.
Note for Oculus users: I recommend starting game from Steam VR and not straight from Steam library due to some controller issues I actually purchased this game on October 14, 2017 for $10.04 USD. Now it's $6 and I think it's a good deal at that price. However, keep in mind, this game does has some issues. Game does have full locomotion, but no turning (you have to turn IRL). You grab items with your left hand with trigger and your right hand has a flashlight. You have an automatic inventory system. I, honestly, would consider this game a horror walking simulator in VR with very light puzzle elements. It's more just exploring the house, finding items, hearing spooky noises, and yeah, jumpscares. I actually enjoyed the jumpscares in this game, I think they were well done and not over done. Unfortunately, some of the scares were not sychronized well with the location of the player or where the player is looking so some happen behind you or right in the corner of your view. The good news is that the type of scares are varied. I took over an hour to finish the game, mostly because of game …6 found this helpful
The door from the tutorial room doesn't open. I restarted the game several times but it just doesn't work. Others seem to be having this same issue. The graphics are also not very good.1 found this helpful
The build up to the suppense of the great is great.1 found this helpful
This game could be great BUT: - The torch halves the framerate no matter what - Issue with the locomotion system. No hand related control and slippery feeling with Oculus Touch. I was enjoying the game but i got to the "bad" ending and i could not go past chapter 1. I am not sure i can go through the thing again as i think it's a bit nauseating, along with slow paced. This is an old game and i don't think anybody cares about fixing it anymore. However, i would apreciate i could go throgh the game with no such framedrops, in a more healty way.
