If you can get by how bugy this game is & if you don't handicap yourself like i did with skills, it's a fun game, I did complete Pacifist & least detection run & Menace Run aswell, You need to mod the game to make it more enjoyable, The branching choices are pretty good & culminate on final mission It's made by obsidian so it has 4 dialogue options, Suave/Agressive/Professional/Special, & you can piss off factions & individuals & the consequences play out well, On Vanilla i don't reccomend this jankbugfest game, The most fun fact is characters in the game commenting on how you did your job, oh you didn't kill anyone & stayed undetected, Characters Congrats you vs Your a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reckless menace of a murderer dialogue, I reccomend alpha protocol revived on nexus mods & you can find all the fixes in steam guides if you need them. 5/10 game.1 found this helpful
In retrospect, Alpha Protocol is a rather unique game. To this day, no one else has combined the spy genre with an RPG. It was a solid combination. The game’s greatest strengths were its mature storyline and interesting characters, while the dialogue and decision-making systems created a strong sense of actually shaping the plot. As for what hasn't aged well, the gameplay stands out; while it was bearable through the lens of nostalgia, I certainly wouldn't remember the game for its gameplay yet, aside from that, it is still worth trying out or at least revisiting..
Buggy
Possibly one of the most fun and intriguing games I've played in a while. While the graphics and gameplay are certainly dated, the writing and story is everything good that you'd expect from OG Obsidian Entertainment. With the sheer amount of options it's possible to play the game multiple times and get a different story every time. I cannot recommend this game enough! (Someone get Zach Hazard to review the guns, he'd have an aneurysm)
Worth playing in 2026, however be aware of the bad/outdated mechanics. ;)
