Amber Isle

I am in love with this game. The art style is adorable, I love the characters, the craftables are SO CUTE. I feel as if the progression is even and fair. I only have a few issues with it, and these obviously haven't been dealbreakers. For one, the camera controls are lacking and can be awkward, especially when decorating your shop or the different regions. There are a few interactions that are a bit awkwardly coded, not sure if they're bugs or what. Just feels as if they lack polish. Shop rank could use some minor adjustments. And lastly, the tutorial lasts way too long. I remember thinking "please just let me play the game by myself already." Some of the negatives could be dealbreakers for some people, but I think it's worth a shot to push past them because this game is lovely and charming and so so cute and fun!!

It's a fairly simple gameplay loop so far, but it's really fun! It's easy to turn your brain off and just enjoy gathering, running your shop, and talking to your dino friends! The story has been interesting so far, I can't wait to see where it goes!

I must say the art style is what pulled me into the game. I knew nothing else about it before I bought it since it was on a sale. I do think it is worth what I paid for it, but maybe not higher. It's like a simplified version of Stardew Valley. You get resources, craft items, sell them at your shop, rinse and repeat. You are also supposed to be able to bond and build friendships with townsfolk, but I have yet to see much of that in my current run. Take that with a grain of salt as I have only been playing for a few hours. They're moderately generous with the way you can customize your own character. I will say that even though you have the option to save presets, if that save file is lost your presets are also lost for some reason. Gathering resources initially yielded quite a lot of them. Over time however that begins to dwindle down and you can only get a few resources per day (until i assume you can unlock some sort of upgraded tools). Again I've only played for a few hours so there might be much more to the progression system. This is a cute cozy game with island building, shop management and time management. You can play at your own pace which is a nice feature. It is fun and relaxing.

the resolution is broken and only plays in square form and happens every time I open the game I have to change it... 1.10? Really? The camera controls are horrid too... why only have it vertically move? That creates no purpose... Otherwise, pretty good shop sim featuring dinosaurs. Would I recommend it? No. Everything about this game SCREAMS Day 1 Early Access. The building controls, the lazy animations, dinos clipping through the furniture, the loooooooongest dialogue... it's really a shame.

Fine for an on-sale game, not sure if it's worth 25 dollars. The tutorial is AN HOUR and 15 minutes long. It made me feel sorta stupid and you CAN'T do anything else, you are forced to learn things you could've already known by playing other games or small splashes of text. If Adi were going to tell me everything, it should've been in a single day- I really think it could've been. On lowest settings, there's still some jitter and lag and I could tell from the opening scene that this game could use some optimizing. That and the camera controls are odd and I don't know why the open world has a more locked view than the shop. The tutorial length is insulting, and my other gripes be lived with. To give the game its merit, I do indeed love some of the graphics. The lighting is pretty even on low settings, I adore the 2D artwork that goes with each character and the customizer is quite fun. The models of each of the characters are also pretty good. My favorite part has to be the choppy little sound bites each character has. It's incredibly satisfying to my ears.
