Step through a mysterious portal to another world in this Old-School FPS/Metroidvania Hybrid.

Pursued through the ruined streets of Los Angeles, harried by a roving Kill Gang, perhaps it was simple survival instinct that drove you to seek shelter. But perhaps it was Fate which drove you to seek shelter in the offices of Wayfarer Inc. In their subterranean laboratories, you discover a machine which opens up a portal to another world. Wayfarer had just had enough time to send one expedition thought the gate before they had evacuated.

Seeking escape from the Kill Gang beating down the doors, you activate the device, open the portal, and step through...

You are greeted by a lush and dangerous world of verdant forest and acid lakes, rocky crags and networks of caves. Up on a high plateau, you see a geodesic dome shimmering under a pink sky. Perhaps if you can reach it, you may find the first expedition... or at least find out what became of them.

And All Would Cry Beware is a old-school-style fast-paced FPS with a Metroidvania structure. Explore a connected world, discover what became of the Lost Expedition. Find new guns which will allow you to reach new areas. Weave through enemy projectiles and take on fearsome bosses.

A brief, lo-fi sci-fi FPS (Doom) gesturing toward a Metroidvania structure. Fleeing a kill gang in a ruined Los Angeles, you stumble into a Wayfarer facility, activate a dimensional portal, and emerge on the alien world of Xanadu. From there, the narrative unfolds through scattered expedition logs, while you traverse a single interconnected map, face four bosses, and acquire a small arsenal of five weapons. Marketed as an "old-school FPS/Metroidvania", it delivers only the bare minimum of both. As a shooter, it checks the essentials (first-person perspective, projectile weapons, geometric enemies) but rarely evolves beyond them. Combat is trivially easy and avoidable: enemies drop nothing, respawn quickly, and function more as obstacles than threats. Even bosses rely on predictable, easily dodged patterns. Gunplay is serviceable but undermined by design choices. All five weapons have infinite ammo with no reload or overheating, removing any resource management. The arsenal is poorly balanced: a weak pistol with slow projectiles, a near-useless short-range shotgun, a feeble assault rifle, a dominant rocket launcher, and a late-game flamethrower that is mostly ineffective but unf…

very fun little search-action-y vania-ish fps. have yet to find anything this dev puts out that i didnt at least find very enjoyable. (for propriety's sake: the final log appears to be bugged and doesnt appear, but the game is fully completable & a coherent story without it, dont worry about it if this happens to you too)

Solid bite-sized metroidvania.

I'm reluctant to leave a negative review for a tiny solo-dev project like this... but the game is just not particularly good. It's not bad either, but there's nothing particularly good or interesting about it. Honestly, I was hoping for something much weirder.

This would have been interesting as a student project released for free on Itch. It's a poorly executed FPS that clearly had a lot of heart behind it, and is mainly here to tell a story. As a shooter, platformer and "metroidvanian", it fails for a lot of reasons that I'm sure Renegade Sector has grown past by now. The music is alright, the overall look is unique and interesting, and it does a lot with a pretty abstract story idea and very few assets. I think if Samuel Taylor Coleridge saw a video game, he would simply take more laudanum.
