Players consistently praise this precision space platformer for its deceptively engaging gameplay that rewards persistence and improvement, comparing it to games like Celeste for its easy-to-learn-hard-to-master design. The excellent soundtrack, interesting story elements hidden in codex entries, and satisfying challenge that encourages repeated attempts are highlighted as major strengths. The main complaint is that some mechanics aren't clearly explained upfront, with players wishing the game better communicated features like holding buttons for alternative actions.
Deceptively simple fun that sneaks up on you. Some of the content is really hard, don't get me wrong, but it's the kind of game you can zen out in to slowly improve on and do things with your little ship and 'simple' mechanics that you might not have initially thought you ever could. I wasn't the best at timing my jumps by any means, but I had a good time playing aggressive space bumper cars, and really isn't that what games are all about?2 found this helpful
The game looks simple on premise but it's a fast paced precision game thats easy to pick up but hard to master. Think Celeste in space. The soundtrack and sound design is excellent, the story is a bit simplistic (Although I didn't read the codex entries so I may have missed out on the depth which is my fault) but serves as a nice way to drive the game.1 found this helpful
Fun, challenging. Takes persistence to master, but well worth it !1 found this helpful
Ari's Journey is a fantastic top down precision platformer-esk game. That provides players with a combination of challenging obstacle courses and mapping puzzles. With an intriguing story and codexes scattered through out the levels to expand upon the world of the game.1 found this helpful
Very challenging game. But in a good way. It definitely makes you want to try again and again. After just one hour I felt myself getting better and better at the timing and learning the quirks of the ship's movements. The fact that there's an added story is very nice as well! I was expecting it to be a platformer alone on it's own but the presence of a story to keep you attached rather than the gameplay alone is a very nice touch. Solid 9/10 imho. I'm only docking a point because it took me forever to realize you could hold the boost button to go into a slow mo mode and better aim your jets forward..etc as it doesn't mention "holding" the button down when it tells you the other couple of controls. But all in all this is a very challenging and fulfilling game with added story to follow as a nice bonus cherry on top. Anyone who likes platformers will DEFINITELY like this game! Give it a shot!1 found this helpful
