About Armoured Commander
Armoured Commander is a turn-based, strategy roguelike using the ASCII character set. You play the role of Commander of an M4 “Sherman” Tank, leading a battlegroup fighting in Northwestern Europe between 1944 and 1945. You can play one of two campaigns set in 1944-1945, allowing you to join American or Canadian forces as they land in France and fight their way into Germany. Along the way you will face German tanks, guns, and infantry. All maps and encounters are procedurally generated, so each playthrough will present you with a new experience. In both campaigns, your goal is to survive the war while accumulating as many Victory Points as possible. Each day of the campaign you will be sent on a particular mission, either to advance through an area of territory, battling more entrenched enemy forces, or defending a previously won position against a counterattack. You decide how to proceed through the day’s campaign map, and when you encounter enemy forces, how to deal with them. Along the way, your crew will gain experience points and skills that will enhance your chances of survival and victory.
The game includes two campaigns, more than a dozen variants of Sherman tank for you to command, and dozens of enemy types, from small squads to the massive Panther and Tiger tanks.

Well, if the controls were better, I would recommand it. Play AC 2 instead, it is a much better game control-wise albeit missing the sector map which is actually a plus as it removes unnecessary transitions between screens. Also, satelite maps were not present in the 1940s so just seeing what your tank crew sees is really immersive. So buy AC 2 instead, it is a much better game. - Innovative - Inspired from Patton's Best board game - Potential to have alot of campaigns & vehicles (which are present in AC 2) - Addictive - Challenging - Make your own challenge by choosing the vehicle you will use (and in AC 2 choose the difficulty of the operation too) - Poor controls - Low quality of life - Excellent for a free game and to show what the designer of the game can do - Good representation of how dangerous the life of a tank crew can be. If you want to know what AC 2 might be like before buying, try AC 1. it is a simplified yet clumsy version of AC 2 but gives you a good idea of what the dev team wants to do with their game and what to expect in AC 2.1 found this helpful

Управление, хоть и кажется на первый взгляд сложным, быстро становится интуитивно понятным, открывая простор для маневров и хитрых тактических решений. Каждый бой — это отдельная история, где от твоих действий зависит исход всей операции. Графика, несмотря на свою некоторую простоту, отлично передает дух времени и напряжение битвы. Особо хочется отметить реалистичность повреждений и поведения бронетехники — это действительно впечатляет. Звуковое сопровождение добавляет финальный штрих, усиливая эффект присутствия. Игра затягивает и не отпускает до финальных титров. Однозначно рекомендую всем, кто устал от бездумных шутеров и хочет чего-то более вдумчивого и захватывающего.
A faithful and fun ETO tank simulator, the graphics are charming and the gameplay is engaging
Absolute class!
My bad, I don't have enough patience to play this, but the first glance is impressive, by it's completeness and detailed depiction of tank combat
