Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key DX

While I personally preferred Ryza 2, this game is still solid. tl;dr score: 8/10 They definitely fixed a lot of the smaller nagging issues I had with Ryza 2, but simultaneously introduced a few new ones as far as I'm concerned. My biggest complaint is that there are way too many systems at play, that it gets daunting to use them all. I'm all for giving the players room to be creative on how they want to play the game, but considering how the battles play out at a pretty fast pace, it's easy to trend towards a couple and then forget the rest. The worst offender for this in this iteration is everything related to keys. The keys really should not have use in the field, in battle, and for opening barriers while also having RNG when you create them and also being consumable. I find myself almost never using them for field effects because then I can't use them for opening barriers and supply points. And you can't carry all of your keys with you, either. You can only affix a certain amount of keys onto your keychain and can only swap in ones you've farmed while you're in a town, so it's not like you can farm 200 keys and not worry about it. I'd say... so-so. Overall okay, but disappointing after Ryza 2. The crafting, gameplay, characters, etc, are all back and more, with the same positives as before. You liked it before, you'll like it here. However, some choices were questionable... -open world big for the sake of being big. It's too big, empty, and useless. You find the same ingredients and enemies all over and you just waste time. Every big zone would be better if it was smaller, maybe half or a third of the size. It gains nothing from being this big. -tying to the open world, they put chests everywhere to try and reward exploration, but the rewards are completely useless, even for a casual playthrough. Only low-level materials with bad trait and quality that you can already gather in the fields. No unique mid or late game ingredient you could use once or twice, no nice trait on a early game item, etc. Heck, not even a weapon you could use if you were playing on easy and not crafting much in the early game. Just useless junk. And there are hundreds of those chests. Maybe they didn't want to break the game ? But the game can already be broken in the first zone, even earlier than in Ryza 2. Also, what's the point…

as someone who is growing more and more tired of video games as life goes on; this is genuinely some of the most fun i've had in a video game in a very long time. i've never played a jrpg before, and i heard from a few youtubers that this was a good starting point - so i picked it up, and i do not regret it one bit. i'm only 2 hours into the game so far but i've loved every second of it. the combat is really fun and easy to understand, the characters are pretty cool, and the overall scenery is very cute. i also very much enjoy the soundtrack, and tbh? i just love going around collecting random items and fighting things for the hell of it. some features aren't explained incredibly well through the in-game tutorials and it takes a small second to understand what exactly some tutorials mean (especially if you're dumb and veeeeery disabled like me). overall i rate this a 9/10 and i sure as hell will be playing a lot more in the days to come.

genuinely beautiful game to look at, "massive" improvement from previous games, in terms of UI, graphics, and reisalin models having completed all 3 games, this series genuinely has been such a treat, super refreshing game through and through, very easy to get lost in the world with beautiful sceneries and seeing the maturing of the casts and their relationship feels very sweet while they tackle their own personal problems the series thread the fine line of characters maturing without being overly pretentious while still mostly down to earth, which is a quality i dont find in most games i gotta say though, what does sardonica has to do with the plot dawg?? boring ass city

Great game with fun combat, an interesting story that escalates nicely and of course the awesome synthesis crafting system. But most importantly, this is the perfect send off for the group of friends you've come to know and love over 3 games and however many years. If you're a Ryza fan then it's definitely a recommend from me.

After finishing the DX version for Ryza 3...I can safely say that my opinion of the game from when I first played a couple years ago has not changed. It's pretty to look at, the characters are as likeable as ever (Bos even gets to be playable this time), and there's many QoL changes to Alchemy, Exploration, and Combat that make everything feel so fluid. The game does have some problems...and while I still think Ryza 2 is the best of the trilogy overall...this one is a great entry nonetheless. Now let me list a few pros and cons I experienced during my playthrough: PROS: + Crafting system returns from the previous games and is just as fun to break as it's always been. + Ultra Purity is a super trait you can get extremely early, and makes obtaining infinite gems easier then its ever been. + Combat is similar to the previous game, but feels a bit faster and once you have them built...very easy to spam your ultimate items to destroy everything. + The world is gorgeous to both look at and explore.
