[i]Avian Enigma[/i] is a kinetic, sci-fi visual novel developed and published by Aako Inc, Otter Club. You take on the role of a young man working at a factory, living in a time where actual living birds are believed to no longer exist. However, the young man wonders if this is really the case. Is there still a living bird out there? This is the question that occupies his thoughts. One day, as he's going about his business, he encounters a bird, which is being attacked by mechanical cats. The cats are most likely security robots from the factory that he works for. However, fascinated by the bird, the man rushes in to save the bird and then to hide it, tend to its wounds, and make sure to keep it fed. When he next tries to see the bird, it is gone, but shortly after, the man meets a young woman whose clothing strangely resembles the injured bird's plumage, and the beginnings of a relationship form between the two. As I don't wish to go into spoiler territory, I'll stop my story synopsis. ^^ Regarding the gameplay, the story is linear, so no choices are present. Great art designs. Classic story plot. Imaginative settings. Considering the length of the game, the storytelling is well paced, however, the lack of hints and details on the settings disturbs the overall coherence of the story, especially with the presentation of various ideologies (dystopia, religion, realism), for which all are vaguely elaborated. By that, I could hardly form logical and meaningful explanations and analysis on the story, therefore unable to interpret the messages of the game. Good sound effects. Music is consistent with the art design, but lack diversities between scenes.

A great short story with a beautiful art style and charming soundtrack! These elements are weaved together to build a unique dystopian world that challenges our sense of self and our place in the world. I hope the creator develops the underlying lore more through later content, commentary, or other games.
