I purchased this expecting something similar to that other game 'Reigns', and that is precisely what Bad Gov is, except it takes place in a different setting. Sadly, this version lacks any of the elegance of the original. For example, in Reigns you 'swipe' left or right (even on pc using a mouse) to choose 1 of 2 solutions to a problem, here you just pick 1 or 2 from a list. The window the game plays in is phone shaped which is odd given the game is pc only. Overall this game feels rushed and careless and I think it needed more time in development, or perhaps released as freeware on a different site. On a positive note, I did find games written humour in the 'how to play' section very funny even with some English localisation issues, and would try this creators future releases if they could devote more time and energy to it.

Bad Government is an incredibly lazy RNG kingdom management game where you juggle 4 stats and every turn make decisions that increase (or more commonly decrease) some of those stats. Keep going through turns until one of your stats runs out and then it's over. It's like Dead in Bermuda, only incredibly dumbed down with crap pixel art and a deficient premise to even ancient games like Oregon Trail. So why is this garbage, worse than a free browser game, on Steam? Cash grab, that's why. Put trading cards and a low price on any garbage and people will buy it like it's going out of fashion. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result …

A fun click game. Try to maintain and increase your power while dealing with the opinions and concerns of your nation's %1, %99, and ocassional encounters with aliens and zombies.

Bad Government is a darkly comedic political management simulator that transforms the idea of running a nation into a chaotic balancing act filled with corruption, conspiracy theories, public outrage, economic disasters, and impossible moral compromises. Developed and published by FreeTimeDev, the game approaches government simulation from a deeply cynical perspective, portraying politics not as a noble pursuit of leadership but as an exhausting survival exercise where every decision creates new problems somewhere else. Rather than focusing on military conquest, city-building, or traditional grand strategy systems, Bad Government reduces political leadership into a nonstop stream of difficult choices and unpredictable consequences. The game’s simplicity initially makes it appear lightweight, but beneath the minimalist presentation lies a surprisingly stressful and addictive management experience driven by tension, satire, and constant instability. From the moment the game begins, it becomes clear that Bad Government is not interested in idealism. Players assume control of a deeply dysfunctional nation already suffering from economic instability, political division, debt, corruptio…

Extremely simple game, some of the decisions you're offered are not very well thought out, and there's a random chance you will be screwed anyways. I had to get an unspecified amount of gold for an alien, an event that was forseen, and then my nation got wiped out by a meteor in an unforseen event which required 20 units of troops to maintain order from. So either way I was screwed in an unwinnable scenario. Sometimes the choices you have are duplicates as well, so there's no real decision making going on. There isn't much depth here overall, but what are you really expecting from a game that costs 1 dollar? I'm recommending this game just because it was fun while I played it, up until I lost anyways. And to illustrate what I mention earlier about the game not being well thought out, here is one example: In this game whatever unspecified cabal that rules over everyone, wants to make it easier for the civilian populace to obtain guns... the thing is though the entire game you're balancing favour between the cabal and the people of your nation as a whole, and if you go too far one way the other side will kill you. But in this scenario, the cabal wants the civilian population they ar…
