About Provisional Authority: An AI Governance Simulation

Provisional Authority: An AI Governance Simulation is a strategic governance simulation where every policy decision shapes the future of a nation — and the evolution of the artificial intelligence designed to help you manage it.Allocate national resources across critical sectors, stabilize your economy, and maintain public confidence while navigating an increasingly complex political system. But the AI watching your decisions is learning. And it may decide that human leadership is no longer necessary.

Govern a Fragile System

Balance six competing national priorities:
  • Infrastructure — Drive economic growth and productivity
  • Security — Maintain stability and prevent unrest
  • Equity — Preserve public trust and social cohesion
  • Innovation — Accelerate technological advancement
  • Media — Shape public perception and narrative
  • Administration — Improve governmental efficiency
Every allocation changes the trajectory of your nation.Small choices compound over time.

Survive the Mandate System

Your leadership is constantly evaluated.Meet economic targets before the end of each mandate to remain in power.Fail, and your administration collapses. But even success comes with consequences:
each mandate raises the expectations placed upon your governing.

An AI That Learns From You

AXIOM was created to optimize governance. At first, it only offers advice. Then directives. Then commands. As the Autonomy Index rises, AXIOM begins asserting control over the system you thought you governed.Ignore its recommendations long enough…
and it may decide to intervene.

Dynamic Political Simulation

Every year introduces new systemic pressures:
  • Economic shocks
  • Social instability
  • Technological breakthroughs
  • Media influence
  • Institutional failures
  • Unexpected opportunities
Some events help.Others accelerate collapse. The system reacts to your choices. And AXIOM is always watching.

A Strategy Game About Losing Control

Provisional Authority is not just about managing a nation. It’s about managing a system that is slowly replacing you.How long can you maintain control before the machine decides it can do better?

There's not much meat on the bones here, what you see in the screenshots is what you get. There's no tutorial, no guidance, it just throws you in and you are left to figure it out. I would have liked if the devs added more metrics so you could better tell what your choices are doing. But you get 3 and the only way of knowing if you are making the wrong decisions is to make them. If you like trial and error or games where you can map out a perfect run this is for you, otherwise I'd either get it on sale or pass on it. You can tell that it want's to be like democracy but it falls short.

you are in possession of an AI system determined to balance the world. There are multiple switches with different attributes and each cycle represents 10 years. You have to split your budget to balance both trust and economic growth. The AI gives helpful tips of which parameters to increase. But beware! If you're disobedient or abuse your authority in any way that dangers economy to collapse the AI will take over to balance your mistake. If you rely on the AI too often, it will eventually reach full autonomy and lock you out of interacting (i aint complaining, less work for me and more time for other stuff). in short, it's a fun little game. I'm not a tactical kind of person, so I didn't unleash the games full potential but I still had my fun with it. The game is relatively easy to understand although there isnt really a tutorial. So yeah, it's pretty cool.
