About Bad Pixels
8-Bit first person shooter set in the old west! Have you ever wondered what a FPS game would look like in 8-bit? It's gotta look bad, right?Bad Pixels is a gritty, hoodlum-shooting, gristle-chewing, law-avoiding retro style FPS. As Sheriff in this reckless retro environment, you must round up a team of deputies to help you flush out wrong doers, cash-in on wanted contracts and restore the peace.
In an 8-bit style, explore dusty towns, remote hills, snowy outposts and spooky graveyards. Great care has been taken to recreate these locations as realistically as possible using only the finest lines and polygons the 8-bit world has to offer.
How far can you go on one credit? There is no lives system in Bad Pixels, once all members of your team have perished, it is game over. But that is not the end, you might be rewarded with special skill badges that you can use on your next run.

Bad Pixels is a gem of a game, been waiting on it for a few years now. There's loads of potential! Audio-visually the game gets it right, unlike countless other games: it perfectly encapsulates the visual style of a specific era in computer gaming, and on top of that, adds some beautiful looking explosion effects that disturb the terrain and set things on fire, a day-night cycle with moving shadows, dust flying through the air, some cute minimalist lens flare, blood, hats flying off and more. I'd love an option that would let one keep the different effects such as blood and debris permanently on the map until the mission ends, it would add a lot to the immersion and would probably not consume a lot of processing power either. I loved the first scene when you boot up the game as well, reminiscent of old cracked games, very meta and very fitting. Overall the game feels and looks just right, the color scheme is spot on and I really can't get enough of it. Reminds me of LHX: Attack Chopper from 1990 among others. The gameplay is also fun, though given that the game is Early Access, for now it feels more like a hint at what's to come. The shooting feels fun and challanging, th…4 found this helpful

there sure are some bad pixels around these parts3 found this helpful
There's a lot to love about this game already; plenty mechanics to utilised throughout the assorted missions, townspeople that feel unnecessarily (but favourably) believable as they mill around and react to the ongoing chaos, unlockable features to help and hinder as you scour the wild west in search for bad guys. The aesthetic of Bad Pixels takes the cake here, though. It's unreasonably nice to exist in its low-res, endless world after a scuffle in the lawless wastes before heading back to the gate. Frequently to a time penalty in one's final score percentage, I might add, but that's neither here nor there. Right now, In Early Access, it's a bit of a short endeavour. The full release promises a lot more though, and I'm excited to explore new biomes with different weapons when the time comes.1 found this helpful
