These old RPGmaker games are a mixed bag. MGUSA seem to be a bit too ambitious in what they want to do within the confines of a game that only uses what amounts to a dpad and three or two buttons. And the name of the game... BARTER EMPIRE... sounds like a place where you got to work a lot to get anything done and from what I understand with all the stuff you got to do in this game, that's exactly what you'll be doing dealing with the limited interface as you barter your way into the LAIR OF THE EVIL... well at least two evil vampires from what I saw of the intro. I daresay we are all better off skipping this one but I admire the effort... from afar.12 found this helpful

if you can get past the dated RPGMaker controls, this ambitious game holds some fun if you are in crafting and exploration. The world is OK, but felt a little to samey as it uses a lot of stock assets. I'd play it more if it was upgraded to later versions with better menu design and controller compatibility.1 found this helpful
nope
3 good 2 average 1 bad loot 1 and 1/2 crafting 1 and 1/2 combat 1/2 replayability 1 and 1/2 game mechanics 1 customization/choice 1 and 1/2 story 1 and 1/2 visuals 1 and 1/2 fun, only in short doses hours of play. 50 to 70. But you will get bored way before this. bugs? not many, but one rather bad one. This is a reluctant thumbs up, because this game has a lot of problems. It also has a lot of content. You will get your money's worth if you play the game in small doses over a long stretch of time. Play too much of it at one time and you will start to really hate this game. Let's start on the positives. There is a lot here: crafting, farming, fishing, business ownership, questing, exploring, dungeon running, combat, loot, multiple guilds, and even marriage. Eventually you get to an open world where there are multiple cities where you can buy more businesses and find more quests. There is a lot to do. But will you want to do it all? Some other reviews have said the story is good. I disagree. Waking up with amnesia is rarely a good beginning of a story. Some of the dialogue is funny. Some of it is silly. Too much of it is dumb. There are lots of quests. But retrieving a swor…
Kickstarted this game for one of my kids, his and his brothers name are in it as well as mine and his mothers. Its lots of fun to see your ideas in games.
