Battle Echoes

If you're looking for a chill experience in an RTS-Roguelike game where your survival is dependent on upgrading your units, buildings and with that sheer bit of luck; this game is for you. I hope the game gets additional support, could be a real banger in the future.

The price may be low, but there’s enough fun in this wave shooter with strategy elements. This is another title that follows the current trend of survival/horde games. Although it is currently in early access, there is enough there to demonstrate what it is all about. You start by selecting a fighting unit. There is only one available at the beginning, but you can unlock two more. New units aren't necessarily superior because each excels at something. So, while the first one deals the most damage, the third one moves the fastest. You can also select expert choices. These make the run more difficult, but you will earn better rewards. As always, your unit fires at enemies on its own. All you need to do is move about and occasionally use special abilities. However, the gameplay has a slight twist. In addition to surviving enemy waves, you also must build and protect your base. There is a command center, energy plants, and defense turrets. The center is where you can improve during the game. When you have enough resources to upgrade the structure, you can choose one of three random perks to boost your unit. Other structures can also be upgraded to increase their efficiency and unco…

Even though I refunded it... I'm going to recommend it anyway. The price is good and it's very unique. The Devs are talented in gameplay design and execution. The problem with Battle Echoes is that it's in a rough spot in the market.. for me anyway. Right now there is just so many good RTS games coming out this year that I just won't have the time for it. So it's not about the price it's about time and priority. It's just not the right timing, but I'll probably pick it up again in the future. One thing that holds it back IMO is its mobile game feel... It feels like something you play while you're on the toilet. The UI and the way you select upgrades just comes off cheap... This could have been done better in my opinion. I feel like if this game had a more serious PC game feel; it would've been a much stronger contender in the market... I felt like the gameplay deserved a better delivery system than what was created for it. Anyway, this is a good game with a very good price that should give you lots of entertainment value so I'm going to recommend it. Nice concept mixing bullet heaven, rts and tower defense. Pretty good idea. Now it's early access and some things still need improvement : it's not immediately clear what does what, th ui could use some work, own units could be more distinct from enemy units, etc. But it's already fun and it caught me, there's already more than potential here. If it evolves well it could become a very solid and original title. (+ the graphical style is pleasing and it's dirt cheap.)

Its hard to pin point the genre of this game. It essentially is an RTS game that focuses on having a mech be controlled by the player. I would say its somewhat of a combination of supreme commander and Airmech with a dash of a Tower defense. The maps are pretty solid, upgrades are interesting but reliable enough to come up with a strategy, I enjoy the horde mode and survival modes thoroughly and its a very creative game. No idea why I bought this game but im glad I did. Theres also pretty cool updates from time to time but im a litlle sad because last update made it where I cant load the game. Thank you for all the hard work you put into this game!
