You start by selecting one of six starting mechs, while the rest are locked. However, unlocking them requires nothing more than losing a run. Each failed run unlocks a new mech, so you can spend the first few minutes intentionally flying into enemies to blow yourself up and quickly unlock everything. Mechs differ through their special abilities, but that doesn’t matter much because the focus is on weapons. After choosing your character, you pick your first weapon, which fires automatically whenever an enemy comes within range. Runs are wave based, meaning you need to survive for the required amount of time against endless waves of enemies. During each wave, you also need to collect gems by staying within their circles until the progress bar fills up. Gems come in both large and small sizes, and their circles sometimes overlap, letting you collect multiple gems at once.
