This is the first game from the worlds most inexperienced developers. A perfect game to play while stuff downloads in the background!

This game is the culmination of 3 friends who wanted to make a video game but didn't have a remote idea as to where to start. Half-way through development, we hosted a panel at the 2017 RetroGameCon in Syracuse, NY. We told the crowd we'd release this game on Steam when it was ready. We're following through on that promise!

Video (gameplay + commentary): https://youtu.be/I7r6uE__k6g This game is a great handful of minutes of fun. It's not long, but it's a great little snapshot of some fun arcade twinstick shooting with crunchy pixels and some nice rolling scenery that you don't have to take remotely seriously. A+++++ would defend our hive again!6 found this helpful
BeeFender is a badly made GameMaker Studio construction kit game (but it's not an asset flip... the game assets are too poor quality to be professionally produced). This GameMaker Studio job has you twin-stick wave survival shooting around your beehive to protect it from incoming enemies. Occasionally a spider will fling a web at you and fix you in place for a while. There's different phases to the game, but it's not worth progressing, even for the easy achievements. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also re…4 found this helpful
My friend bought this game for me thinking it was nice wholesome content,
little did she know about the gorey hectic slaughter in stage 2
The game doesnt have much depth to it but it is a very enjoyable twin stick shooter which I will probably invest a lot more hours in trying to find that damn hidden achievement. Really excited to see more of you guys. 10/10 would get caught by the spider as I watch a bear maul my home and family to shreds again. One thing about this game that can really get on your nerves though is how at times the game consistently fails to give you the right power-ups to make it past certain points in the game, mainly looking at the fire rate upgrade here. Edit: Some recommendations -Pause menu -A way of seeing how many times you collected a powerup during a game3 found this helpful
BeeFender is a fast-paced arcade survival shooter developed and published by BWT Games that embraces simplicity, challenge, and replay-driven design. At its core, the game revolves around a single, focused objective: defend your hive for as long as possible against relentless waves of increasingly aggressive enemies. Rather than building its identity around narrative progression or expansive content, BeeFender channels the spirit of classic arcade score-chasers, where mastery of mechanics and reaction speed determine success. The premise is straightforward—you control a bee tasked with protecting its hive from predators—but the escalating intensity transforms that simple concept into a demanding and surprisingly strategic experience. Gameplay is built around twin-stick shooter fundamentals. Players maneuver their bee freely around the screen while firing stingers at incoming threats, balancing positioning and offense in real time. Controls are responsive and accessible, whether using keyboard and mouse or a controller, making it easy to grasp the basics within minutes. However, true longevity comes from learning how to manage chaos as enemy waves grow denser and more varied. Early…1 found this helpful
It's a great game but also a deeply touching commentary on life and human greed. No matter how hard you work there will always be bloodsucking VULTURES coming for your honey.1 found this helpful
