BioGun

[h1]Overview:[/h1] '[i]BioGun[/i]' is a 2D side scrolling platform shooter where you play as a microscopic pig named "Bek" on a mission to save a man's best friend from a virus set out to end all of dog-kind. With some pretty serious stakes on the line, the plot revolves around a virus called the "Dooper Virus" having swept across the world. Currently only affecting canines, it runs the risk of evolving and affecting more species if left incurable. A doctor by the name of "DocX" created Bek as an antigen to traverse through his dog's body to combat the virus and hopefully become an antibody in the process and develop a vaccine to distribute to the world. With that in mind, it's not hard to say that the entire game does in fact take place inside a dog's body with maps ranging from the lungs, liver, heart and yes, even the colon. '[i]BioGun[/i]' offers a unique premise and concept when it comes to it's story and executes it in a pretty interesting way (and rather well if I have to say so myself). This game is truly awesome! The gameplay is smooth, the controls are responsive, and the setting is wonderfully unique: you're literally inside a dog's body. The world is vibrant and colorful, the characters are cute and memorable, and the action is intense and genuinely fun. There are plenty of bosses, both optional and mandatory. Backtracking, item collecting, health upgrades - everything you'd expect from a proper metroidvania is here. But then there's the game engine: Construct 3. Since it basically runs in a web browser, it doesn't always treat this game kindly... During my playthrough, I encountered several bugs. Most of them were harmless and didn't affect the game in any meaningful way. Things like flying across three screens only to get stuck in a wall, falling off a platform I wasn't supposed to fall from, the save file showing the wrong amount of currency, or even occasionally displaying "Infinity %" completion. Annoying, sure, but nothing game‑breaking. However, one bug nearly drove me insane and pushed me to the brink of quitting altogether - after 25 hours in! I went straight for Critical Blaster mode to unlock the three rarest achievements. This requires equippin…

Even though twin-stick metroidvanias tend to be not my cup of tea as fiddling with one stick is already too much for me, I massively enjoyed completing this one over its 20 hours play time (96%). The game is drawn beautifully if you like these comic-style colourful MV variants and it has lots of fun upgrades, which come early and often. Backtracking is ok, the map is AWESOME, with upgrades allowing you to show secrets and collectables on it. Bosses tended to the difficult in the beginning but not later on, as the game allows you to grind for more health midgame. There are accessibility "cheats" in case difficulty is too much for you (great!), but they disable achievements (not so great). Some achievements for 100% are too grindy for my taste but otherwise this is a great game and an underrated gem. Just a shame the devs do not develop a successor but something completely different. I hope some day there will another MV from you guys! :) Thanks for this one.

My coworker is a cousin of one of the devs for this game and she held me at gunpoint to play this game. Emotional scarring aside, I'm glad she did. I love me a good metroid-vania and this one is fantastic AND has a really unique idea for the world the game takes place in. (By "world", I mean sick dog) I absolutely recommend this game to just about anyone!

The campiness, the so-so 2d shooting, and the occasional bugs all make me feel like playing something else.

Biogun is a Hollow Knight clone. But you're an anitviral pig with a gun inside a dog trying to save her life. The only grievence I have with this game is the ability to equip only one drive chip. Other than that, the map is fun to explore, the combat is fun, and the boss fights are on point.
