About Black Fog
Black Fog is a survival horror with narrative elements, following the story of Kat and Eleanor, two ex-band members who haven't spoken in over two years. When a dark fog infused with a deadly neurotoxin encompasses the nation, Kat is inflicted with rampant hallucinations, unable to discern what is real, and what is not.Throughout the night, you'll play as Kat while she attempts to survive an onslaught of dangerous manifestations. Various hallucinations will appear and distort the surrounding house. You will need to photograph them to stay alive, or else they will rapidly raise your anxiety to lethal heights. Alongside hallucinations, other entities will appear that will attempt to let toxins into the house, short circuit the power, and even attack you directly. Survive for 2 in-game hours until Eleanor arrives to drive you to safety. Black Fog contains fully voiced story cutscenes, but the game can be played without them. Higher difficulties are available which will significantly increase the rate of hallucinations and enemy activity. With over 200+ hallucinations to find and fully random entity behaviour, each playthrough will not be the same as the last.

I would say that this game has a good foundation so to speak but it is a bit underwhelming. Something I saw but didn't use was the quietly opening door mechanic which there was no point to using since nothing during my playthrough really harmed me since they all glitched out and got stuck on various objects. Anomalies or hallucinations in the game were pretty lackluster during my playthrough as well as nothing really stood out to me since most of them were just random objects that I had to find and photograph to see that they were not real. An issue with this too was it was a struggle at times to figure out where it was and what had changed since the sound effect telling you there was an anomaly emitted both up and downstairs for example when it could be in the middle. Objects too could be mundane things that no one would really notice unless you started spamming the photo button. The entire game felt like a scavenger hunt rather than surviving hallucinations. I did like that the game has voice acting and it does have a good foundation but I feel like it was released too early and needs quite a bit of work.
