About Blades of Fire
FORGE STEEL. SHAPE YOUR FATE. At the heart of Blades of Fire lies a forging system that is not crafting — it is commitment. Weapons are forged at the anvil through deliberate choices that permanently shape their behaviour, balance, and purpose. There is no endless loot. No disposable gear.
Every blade reflects:
- The materials you chose.
- The enemies you prepare to face.
- The kind of warrior you decide to become.
- Timing, spacing, stamina, and defense matter more than aggression.
- Enemies punish recklessness and reward observation.
- Weapon choice is tactical, not cosmetic.
A WORLD THAT REWARDS CURIOSITYThe world of Blades of Fire does not unfold through constant exposition. Much of its history, myths, and meaning resides in Adso, Aran’s companion — a young, learned mindscholar with deep knowledge of the world and an eagerness to share it.
He writes down everything and speaks when spoken to.
- Story is discovered through dialogue and reading, not through cutscenes.
- Knowledge comes from interest, not obligation.
- The world reveals itself only to those who ask.
- Deliberate pacing.
- Meaningful progression.
- Difficulty rooted in understanding, not reflexes.

Players praise the solid combat system with its engaging fencing mechanics, compelling story with likeable characters, and the weapon forging aspect that adds meaningful depth to progression. However, common complaints include poor keyboard and mouse support requiring a controller on PC, overly linear design that undermines the illusion of choice in weapon crafting and material gathering, and level design that some find tedious, particularly for those attempting 100% completion or New Game+ runs.
Overall, the game is okay and probably worth the money on sale, but I just can't recommend it. After about 15 hours, the game felt more and more like a chore. I pushed through to the end, but it wasn't always enjoyable. The story and characters aren't very well written, and while the combat is fun for a while, it loses its appeal after a certain point. In particular, it felt strange that the heavy attack seemed somewhat useless. Though maybe I just didn't fully master the combat system. The crafting system, on the other hand, is really great. I thoroughly enjoyed building customized weapons and pushing for the highest quality.3 found this helpful
I discovered this game a year ago from a green cam streamer. Enjoyed it thoroughly to get the true ending. Enjoyed the combat and weapon styles. And also made fun with min maxing the weapons to either terrible or reliable weapons. The forging was a mystery at first. In a nutshell, it's matching the lines as close to the white guide lines. Eventually, I figured it out though not always 100%. Collecting the weapon parts are cool. Backtracking to older maps to get them was mixed feeling. But then again, this is an exploration game. So that was expected. The same feel as Metroidvanias.1 found this helpful
Blades of Fire is a fantastic game with an unassuming name that does it a great injustice. Disclaimer: this is NOT a Soulslike or a Soulslite. It's a Search Action game with an emphasis on exploration and combat that's more similar to a game like Ninja Gaiden, except with no "traditional" combos to learn; players are supposed to link these directional attacks as the situations call for them. Blades of Fire is a fantastic gothic dark fantasy 3D Search Action game with a story and universe that are at worst interesting. The gameplay consists of surprisingly deep directional combat, satisfying exploration and back tracking, and a crafting system that made me think about my playstyle, not just numbers, when deciding what to make. Blades of Fire has a gameplay loop I haven't truly experienced before. Sure, challenging fights and Search Action exploration aren't a new thing (even if 3D Search Actions are extremely rare), but the weapon crafting system is what makes it feel so engaging and unique. Learning not just how to play the game, not just what your preferred builds are, but how your weapon type and modifications/upgrades can change your experience is fantastic. INCREDIBLE!! Action adventer soulslike with great weapons, inovative combat, hard enemys, and awesome explotation. It make for a very underated game that deserves more recognition... I highly recomend playing the demo... if you like the few hours they give you on that then buy it. I spent 100 hours on the game and loved every minute...
This is a special game, I love it so much I'm watching the cutscenes. Such a breath of fresh air with directional combat, weapon fetishization, and an in-house engine with awesome artistic design. I am so grateful I gave it a chance (almost missed this one).
Very underrated game. Give it a shot you will surely enjoy it.
