Book Bound

rating: 3/5 this game reminds me a bit of whisper of the house. it’s simple and cute: you organize and sell books, walk around the little town, and talk to people to learn their stories. but a lot could be improved. i had bugs, like when i bought the mirror and couldn’t change clothes because the first “welcome” message stayed stuck. also maybe i'm missing something but, npc exclamation bubbles also keep showing up even when their story is finished, so they repeat the same line over and over. moving things around is also inconvenient because you can’t walk normally unless you’re holding something, so decorating the big shop isn’t very great. it would also help to see which books you’re holding, and in the order section, to see what’s already in the basket without scrolling through the whole list again. so overall, it’s cute, but it needs improvements.

Cute, cozy, engaging, and actually has a bit of a sub-plot. Great little game.

I adore a good pixel game, one where you get to run a bookshop is just chefs kiss! I personally don't have any complaints, I've thoroughly been enjoying my time playing

This is very hard to write, because I would say that this is a more neutral game than not. But as others have said, it's incredibly grindy. The process of it doesn't feel that worthy of the pay off in the end? It's cute for when you want to have your own little bookshop and don't mind needing to take your time with the game, but I've played around 3 hours spread out over multiple days because I can't help but get bored with the loop of things. It's a shame because the small stories portrayed within it are pretty cute, just not enough for me to continue playing it.

A nice cosy game made by a solo dev. Run your little bookstore, make money, buy new furniture and decorations, and buy tools and upgrades. I found the gameplay slightly boring, it would have been nice if the customer mini game had a few variations so there were a few more mechanics in the game. I would have also liked to have unlocked perks somehow: faster run speed, discount off books, extra customers etc. The game is very simple, it feels a little bare bones, but it was still enjoyable. I really liked the customer stories, that was a really nice touch and they were my favourite thing about the game. Recommended for a relaxed and chilled session to switch your brain off.

The reviews were mixed, so I played the demo, which I enjoyed, and then someone gave me the game on sale. And actually, I love it—it’s super cozy and relaxing. The characters’ stories are pretty interesting. It might not be the gameplay of the century, but honestly, it’s beautiful and cute (I love pixel games). Sure, it’s repetitive, but that’s kind of the point in this type of simulation games. There’s room for improvement, but honestly, for a cozy game, I definitely recommend it.
