Botanik

a quaint game, for those who say "there's nothing to do" or "it even admits to having 10 minutes of gameplay" they are correct however, its $3 who even cares the point of sokpop is they make short games

Botanik is an interesting game. You can mainly take care of your plants and visit others gardens, though presumably most people have abandoned their gardens and have left them dead. I wish there was more to do, but is not a bad game at all.

A game with a truly impressive amount of nothing. Do you want to be bored out of your mind for only the slightest semblance of a reward, but with all the stress of not knowing how much care your plants need to avoid dying? Watering seems to be all you need to do, but the game does everything to make such a simple task feel like the most annoying chore in the world. Do you want to wander dead or empty gardens looking for the smallest sign of player expression? Go right ahead; there is a whole world of nothing out there. Do you want to be playing nearly anything else the whole time? Yes, definitely. Please. It's such a shame too, as gardening can be so much fun, so how did they mess it up here SO badly?

The rate of growth of the plants is in a weird, inconvenient middle-ground: it's too slow to witness within a play session, but too fast to let grow over hours and come back to at the end of your work day. You have to come check your plants regularly, which is neither fun on a free day or feasible on a work day. Otherwise, part of the appeal of the game is to watch other people's plants collection, but since not a lot of people are still playing, it's not really interesting and most places are empty or full of dead plants.

A short game where plants grow really slow and pretends to have multiplayer.

Decent tech demo, since I'm sure it has been more complicated to make than it might seem at first glance... But it's just not fun... If you view this as a kooky art project, maybe it could be okay for about ten minutes.
